T2: Infiltrator (Terminator Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 320 ratings

Sarah Connor and her son, John, know the grim tomorrow that awaits their species if the Cyberdyne Corporation gets their Skynet system on-line. Targeted for annihilation because of their future destinies, the Connors have already survived two separate attempts on their lives by advanced Terminator killing machines. But enough T-800 detritus remains from their last life-and-death struggle to enable Cyberdyne to recover. The nightmare is back on track. And the most fearsome and relentless cyborg weapon of all has been dispatched through time to ensure Skynet's victory: a machine so like its human prey that detection is virtually impossible. Considered a dangerous terrorist by the U.S. government and hiding out in Paraguay, Sarah sees another T-800 similar to the cybernetic killer from whom she once narrowly escaped. But while his form and features will eventually be duplicated on many Terminator units, former counterterrorism operative Dieter von Rossback is very much a man, irresistibly drawn to the puzzling, beautiful, deadly serious Sarah Connor and her brilliant teenage son. And once Sarah reveals her dark history and awakens him to the impending possible extermination of all human life, Dieter is drawn to her revolution as well. But the machine masters of the near future have ensured that they will not be thwarted again. A new breed of enforcer, on designed to effortlessly infiltrate the ranks of the enemy, has been firmly entrenched in the uppermost level of Cyberdyne Corporation. With a vengeance-seeking FBI agent on a tight leash and the inexhaustible resources of Cyberdyne to support the hunt for the Connors and their allies, the 1-950 Infiltrator is relentless, programmed to pursue Skynet's goal until all targets are dead. But unlike its technological predecessors, the Infiltrator understands how humans think and feel...and she truly enjoys the blood and the chase. Exploding out of the long shadows cast by Terminator 2: Judgement Day—the cinematic action masterwork that rocked the world-T2: Infiltrator marks a bold new beginning in the stunning apocalyptic epic that has already become a legend.

Product description

Amazon Review

Fans waiting for a new instalment of the Terminator saga can stave off the cravings a little longer with T2: Infiltrator, an official sequel to the film franchise. The adventure kicks off after the end of the last film, with Sarah and her son John, who was hunted by the last Terminator unit, settling in Paraguay. Things are fine and dandy until one day Sarah encounters another "Arnold" unit in the town square. He's not, however, another killer robot but a former terrorist who served as the physical model for the Terminators. He tells Sarah that Cyberdyne, the company that created the killer cyborgs and was thought destroyed by Sarah in the film, has backup systems that must also be eliminated if they are to prevent the destruction of the human race.

Predictably, another evil Terminator unit is hot on their heels but this one is slightly different to its predecessors--it has taken the form of a beautiful woman and is the deadliest yet.

Heavily rumoured to follow the proposed plot of the third film (should it happen), Infiltrator is a solid story and well-written by genre veteran SM Stirling, though it does sag in places. The action is competently handled but never matches the adrenaline-pumping special effects of the big screen outings. The characters are well handled, especially Dieter whose path to redemption is sound and logical, and the female Terminator offers plenty of feisty femme-fatale action. The ending has a little less "whizz-bang" than the build-up suggests but paves the way for further promised "book" sequels. --Jonathan Weir

An exellent action-packed novel which picks up a few years after the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Sarah is now living in South America under a new identity, while her son John attends an elite military school in preparation for the war against the machines, which Sarah and John think they have prevented yet remain on their guard. However, a Skynet creation, more advanced and more human than anything it has previously developed, it sent back in time to infiltrate Cyberdyne Systems and ensure Skynet is created. Sarah and John team up with an unexpected ally to investigate and try to stop Skynet for a third time.

A fantastic read which I couldn't put down, this novel is a far more believable sequel to T2 than the T3 movie was. If you like the film franchise, I highly reccomment you stop watching the movies after the second installment and pick up this book instead of the sub-standard third movie.

Loved it......and I usually don't go for stories like this!.
Enjoyed the first 2 movies, and thought that this might be an interesting read as it picks up at the end of the 2nd movie.
Well, I read it in 2 nights and became very sleep deprived as a result!. It's well written, and easy to follow. The story keeps you engaged, wondering when the action is going to start (as we all know a terminator is gona turn up!).
The characters are well written, and are in keeping with the movies. You don't need to have seen the movies as the story gives you enough background to understand what's going on.
All in all a very enjoyable read.....didn't have a choice and had to buy the other 2 books as need to see what happens next.......so will be experiencing a few more sleep deprived nights! :)

I really enjoyed this book despite a slow start. Stirling portrays Sarah and John superbly, and the new infiltrator terminator, strong, agile, intelligent yet physically vulnerable, makes a excellent nemesis. A must read for any T2 fans, should have been T3!

I really loved this book. I have been a Terminator fan since I was a child, this story did not disappoint. It continues from where Terminator 2: Judgement day left off. It’s a shame that this story wasn’t made into a movie because it is so much better than what Terminator 3 was. Love the idea of the I-950, and will not be surprised if the new Terminator movie due out at the end of the year - Dark Fate, ends up with a similar infiltrator model...I just have a strong feeling that it might be similar for The character of Grace played by Mackenzie Davis. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Entertaining enough. Better than the thread taken in T3, and a much more integrated follow on. Conflict of storylines...Dieter's character depends on assuming the Arnie face is standard on all of that series of Terminators, but there are multiple terminators shown in T1/T2 with other faces, and they are described as hard to spot (sweat, bad breath etc 😉), which would not really be the case if they all have the same face...a bit silly, but it is a necessary flaw to introduce a quite entertaining character.

A very impressive direct sequel to the T2 movie. The start of it takes place right where the film lets off then there is some events that take place in the future and is a pretty cool on take on whats happening and then its a time skip of about 5 years after the T2 movie. The more you get into the book the more action like it becomes. Some of the way the main characters talk don't quite add up sometimes for the likes of John and Sarah Connor but doesnt effect the reading too much. Would recommend this to any T2 fan but prepare for a long read as is longer then some other books I have read.

I had read 'Future War' first (a later volume) was hooked and wish I had not - as I would have it to look forward to now. However this book was so good I have purchased the next volume and will read Future war again - that good.

Stirling writes so well. He keeps to the storyline and interconnects the movies with appropriate references that make sense. My main point would be that he has that ability of literary description to allow you to really connect to the characters, and he makes Sarah Connor into a believable modern day super woman with all the frailties of human kind against the backdrop of Skynet. and Serena - a master stroke!!! Cracking into the next, love it!!!

Being a big Terminator fan and having watched both movies several times and read the novels too I was pleased to see this book available. I've never even heard of the author but enjoyed it a great deal. If you like the terminator world and have seen at least T2 you should enjoy this book too. If you haven't seen either film you really should before starting this book.

Finalmente!
