- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2024Already own this series of books on print but wanted to read again and as I was going on holiday got them for my Kindle.
Still a great read and continues on the Magician series.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 April 2014This is a good read on it's own but better if you've also read the books prior to these. In one of these books the end just creeps up on you and leaves things a bit flat, you feel like there should have been more to it. But this is forgivable because there's more to follow in the next book. The characters are well developed and there are some interesting philosophies underlying the saga. All in all a very enjoyable read and I'd recommend to anyone who likes the 'sword and sorcery' genre. Looking forward to reading the other books that follow in this saga.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2025I was hooked after the first page and couldn't put it down. I haven't been gripped by a book series like I was this one since I read Lord of the Rings as a teenager.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 August 2023The books are superb. The kindle versions seem to have a fair few more typo or publishers errors than I remember, not so much an issue when you have read them as many times as I have but, it’s a little annoying. I’m rating the books though so that’s why it still gets 5 stars
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2020Oh thank god for my kindle fire as this is one massive saga I have lost track of how many books are in this saga this one branch is 4 and it fits in with the others without a ripple. I have read some twice and still keep coming back for more. If your wondering about the warning once you start your hooked. If you stumble in at the end you will end up going to the start to find out how each person starts and grows with the stories. These books are well written in a world of magic with rules you can understand and plots with more twists than a 70's game of twister. Be prepared to get lost in a book and then hooked on a saga
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2021I fell into this guy’s work by accident - think it was a free kindle offer or something.
Since then I’ve read four of the series of collected novels. Since early December. You could say I’m hooked. I love these yarns, they provide so much. If I’m critical I do think some minor characters may have grown with more fleshing out, but I have a feeling as I work through this entire body of work many of them will be. I’m engrossed in this fine read, and recommend them to any lover of fantasy literature as shining examples from the genre. Thank you for writing them.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 March 2014Would have been 5 stars but for book 2 rise of a merchant prince i found a little flat.Apart for that the Serpentwar saga was an excellent read some fantastic new characters kept the plot fresh.Another superb effort from Feist

5.0 out of 5 stars Riftwar & anon.
Another great series...I've just finished the Serpent Saga and it has whet my juices for the next books by Raymond E. Feist.
I read all or most of these books over 40 years ago (sorry Raymond, but it's the truth & they are just as good now as then if not better). I Love how you started with Pug & Thomas then stretched their lives to include children, grandchildren & even great grandchildren with such interesting characters as Jimmy the Hand & without giving away the plot his rise to where he ended up.
Thanks to everyone involved in all your books.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Feist's Best Sagas
This is my favorite Feist saga next to the Riftwar Legacy. I've read 14 of Feist's novels, and I've enjoyed them all. I must say that Shadow of a Dark Queen is one of his best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The further adventures of Pug and associates
What's not to like. As part of the Rift War saga it upholds all the values, action, magic and story lines we expect from Raymond Feist. Leaves Game of Thrones in the anteroom. Great stand alone reading but I recommend reading the whole Rift War saga from the beginning of the timeline.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great especially if you liked the Riftwar leagcy,
Overall a good read, doesn't quite make it to The Riftwar Legacy series level, probably because most of the old characters are now secondary players in this stroy (with the exception of Pug). But, having said that, the new Charcters are just as engaging and enteraning as the original and they're feats just as heroic and improbable. (but i still like the Rift War Saga better)
