Run or Die: The Inspirational Memoir of the World's Greatest Ultra-Runner Kindle Edition
Run or Die by Kilian Jornet - the autobiography of the world's most dominating athlete in ultra running
Shortlisted for the 2014 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award
National Geographic Adventurer of the Year 2014
Marca Legend Award 2014
'This man can run 100 miles. Up and down mountains. Without stopping. After skipping breakfast. Meet Kilian Jornet, the world's greatest ultra-runner' The Times
At 18 months he went on his first hike. At 3, he climbed his first mountain. At 10, he entered his first mountain race. At 26, he plans to run up Everest - without an oxygen mask.
Kilian Jornet has conquered some of the toughest physical tests on the planet. He has run up and down Mt. Kilimanjaro faster than any other human being, and struck down world records in every challenge that has been proposed - all before the age of 25. Dominating ultra marathons and races at altitude, he has redefined what is possible in running, astonishing competitors with his near-superhuman fitness and ability.
In Run or Die Kilian shares his passion, inviting readers into a fascinating world rich with the beauty of rugged trails and mountain vistas, the pulse-pounding drama of racing, and an intense love for sport and the landscapes that surround him. In turns inspiring, insightful, candid, and deeply personal, this is a book written from the heart of the world's greatest endurance runner, for whom life presents one simple choice: Run. Or die.
This is the next must-have read for those who enjoyed the endurance books Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes.
'Fascinating insight into the gruelling world of the ultimate ultra-runner' Daily Mail
Kilian Jornet is a world champion ultra-runner, climber and ski mountaineer (a combination of skiing and mountaineering). He was voted the presitigious 'Adventurer of the Year 2014' award by National Geographic magazine, in honour of his latest project to break speed records up and down the world's 7 tallest mountains. The 4-year-project finishes with a running attempt up Everest in 2016.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 May 2019I loved this book. I am so amazed by the freedom, the determination, the energy expressed. I wish I could be like this ... I continue to strive towards my goals buoyed on by books like this. Thank you Kilian!

being a conversation over coffee. It has made me want to run long distance over trails again.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2014I found this quite disappointing. I hadn't heard of Kilian before reading this book, and I'm still not entirely sure who he is or what he has achieved after reading this book.
Whilst I don't doubt he is excellent at what he does and that ultra running is extremely difficult I found it somewhat tiresome reading that during every race he can't possibly take another step before promptly running another 40 miles in record pace. The writing style was quite strange for a sports memoir, often drifting into something resembling poetry and get the sick bucket ready for when he speaks about his first encounters with Alba. The book also lacks any sort of signposting and I really struggled to understand what he was up to between races and why he selected the challenges he did.
I'm sure if you are familiar with the sport or Kilian himself, this book would be very insightful, but as someone with a just general interest in sport, I found this quite a frustrating read.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2014If you think a book has to have structure - a clear beginning, middle and end - a clear thesis, then perhaps this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a little poetic insight into the mind of a man who knows how to push himself to the limits and beyond, then this is a great read!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 February 2017A beautifully written, poetic & humble book that I thoroughly enjoyed. A greater pleasure to read than other books from ultra marathon runner which are often a very literal recounting. I feel the runner's character and approach to running reflected perfectly in the writing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 March 2015Rather than a biography of his running career, this books seeks to share Killian Journet's love of running in beautiful places and it's all the more inspirational for it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 July 2018Not a particularly enjoyable read for me. Lots of personal accounts of various races and a little on his childhood but just nothing gripping or that interesting which is surprising given what he's achieved. I found myself skim reading the last few chapters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Passable!
Poor translation! Except for the UTMB and WS100 rest is all passable - nothing much about training, nutrition or even the sort of philosophy of running. You can give this a certain miss.

Good read, but would have been great to learn more about some of the events/challenges he'd completed.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will hang on to every word all of which seem to afford you the rare privilege of getting to run right alongside the great ma
This is the most beautifully-written book, no, 'experience' ever. The only tragedy is 'finishing' the book... and the sheer irony of it ending, because 'ultra-runners' don't just 'stop', they go on and on and on. This is the most magnificent book. You will hang on to every word all of which seem to afford you the rare privilege of getting to run right alongside the great man himself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Should be WIN or DIE
This book shows Kilian's true nature - win or die. I loved it for that aspect. The Kilian we see so polite at ultra-races around the world is really him too - but underneath is a BEAST who wants to win at all costs. It's very motivational.
