A Family Affair: Winter: A Small Town Family Saga (Truth In Lies Book 6) Kindle Edition
On the day Michael Androvich stands at the altar before family, friends, and most of the town of Restalline, Pennsylvania, he’s prepared to pledge his life, love, and fidelity to the woman who owns his heart. There’s only one thing missing—the bride. Elise Pentani loves Michael truly and completely, but there’s a tiny piece of her that believes he’ll fall back into his “bad boy” ways. When a threat from his past visits her, Elise lets doubt rule and skips her own wedding.
Nursing a broken heart and determined to forget the woman he can’t forget, Michael heads to Magdalena, New York, to secure a business deal for his family’s lumber company. He’s not prepared for the endless questions and inquisitive nature of the residents who remind him an awful lot of his hometown.
Just when Michael has gotten the town to accept the fact that he’s not talking about his past or the reason for his surly disposition, his ex-fiancée shows up with an apology he doesn’t want to hear and certainly doesn’t want to believe. There’s no way the residents of Magdalena can ignore these two broken-hearted souls who have “need help” and “belong together” stamped all over their sad faces. Will the town be able to help them see they’re made for each other or will pride and hurt keep them apart?

About the author

Mary Campisi is the bestselling author of over 50 emotion-packed, romantic women’s fiction novels that center around hope, redemption, and second chances. Set in small towns, these books take readers through the lives of the characters as they encounter, misfortune, disappointment, and challenges to find hope, friendship and, in some cases, love. Growing up in a small town gives Mary a real sense of how people pull together to help others find their true destiny. Her stories will make you laugh and cry, but in the end, you’ll feel like you want to live in these towns, meet the residents for coffee or share a meal.
Mary’s Truth in Lies series, also known as the A Family Affair books, takes place in the Catskill Mountains and centers around the discovery of a man’s secret family that prompts the question, Which family is the real one? The continued success of this series is driven by readers wanting more and she’s created an equally compelling one with the Reunion Gap series.
Mary should have known she’d become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all of the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.
When she’s not working on her craft or following the lives of five adult children, Mary’s digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab, Henry, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 May 2015Another visit to Magdelena was as wonderful as my previous visits, this time following the story of Michael and Elise and their 'second chance'. I loved how two stories merged into one and that even if you have not read the other books in the second chance series that each book can be read as a 'stand alone' book. Thank you Mary Campisi for this uplifting story! :) x
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 April 2015WOW WOW WOW Mary Campisi has done it again:) A Family Affair Winter is so well written.
Mary has very cleverly brought 2 books and their characters together ( A Family Affair and Simple Riches) if you've not read either of these books or the truth and lies series, then I would recommend you do first.
This is Michael and Elise's story originally from simple riches, life has thrown them a few twists and turns and they end up in Magdalena .

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2015This book is the sixth in the series but should be read after Simply Riches as it features some characters from it including Michael and Elise from Restaline. The book starts with Michael being ditched at the altar by Elise due to a falsehood which she believes. In the end it's probably the best thing that happens because there are clear trust issues at stake here. Michael escapes to Magdalene a town not too dissimilar to Restaline however Elise follows not knowing that Michael is there. Once the town hears the story they do their usual of trying to get the two back together.
As well as Michael and Elise, Bree features quite prominently in this book too and I have to say there were times I really wanted to knock some sense into her but I guess she can't help herself and the way she feels. As a reader however this is pretty painful to watch. I hope however Bree's character develops in future books with some positive outcomes for her because it wasn't very pleasant to read what she was going through. There is a bit of a surprise ending in this book which I won't mention because I don't want to spoil it for others but suffice to say I didn't shed any tears and felt the person had been let off lightly from their misdemeanours.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 January 2016A Family Affair is a wonderful series: you feel as though you know the characters developed and really feel in the midst of the small town dramas.
Mary Campisi writes with such insight and sympathetic feeling in a very readable, totally engaging way. I look for more and more about these people: I feel I know them.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 September 2015I like this because Mary introduces characters from another series of books into Magdalena. I see that other reviewers have been quite critical about the development of this series, but I have found them to be quite relaxing to read as you are familiar with the characters and yes, some of the scenarios might be predictable, but sometimes it's nice to have a happy ending. These are not books where you need to keep turning back to remind yourself of the plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do second chances work?
When people are hurt, they tend to act like a clam or go overboard. Both extremes lead to heartache so what to do? Go to Magdalena. You will receive the help Michael and Elise got in order to get throught the impasse and work your way to a happier life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
The author has brought two troubled, yet wonderful, characters to Magdalena where the town's special magic will give them their second chance. Lily always adds a bit of light into everyone's lives and Pop seems to know exactly what needs to be said and done
. Meanwhile, a new business arrangement will be out into place that will keep several of the individuals from Restillene returning to Magdalena off and on.
Tragedy hits Brew and the town of Magdalena, so all will need to pull together to get through it.
Several babies are still on the way for the people in both towns, so there is hope and rebirth always abounding.

Loved all the books in Family Affair Series (that I've read so far). Love how Mary intertwined the Simple Riches series with the Family Affair series with the story of Michael & Elise. I can not put these books down and being that I just found Mary Campisi, I have the great fortune of being able to go right from one book to the next and that is exactly what I have done. The ending of this one was a shocker! Dove right into the Promise I just have to see what Bree is going to do. Wonderful writing. You just can't help falling in love with all of the characters and Magdalina!
