Is her family in danger?

When Allie moves to a quaint old cottage with her husband, it’s their dream home. Nestled in the village of Pluckley, it seems a perfect haven in which to raise their two children. But Pluckley has a reputation. It’s known as England’s most haunted village. And not long after the birth of their new son, Allie begins to notice strange things…

What’s the flash of white she sees moving quickly through the woods to the back of their house? And what’s the strange scratching noise coming from the chimney?

As Allie discovers more about the history of their new home, she uncovers a story of witchcraft and superstition, which casts a long shadow into the present day. And not everything is as it seems. Her family might well be in danger, but it’s a danger none of them could have foreseen…

Bit of a let down.

Bit of a let down.
Seeing as it’s 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 I decided to give a more 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧 style thriller. I tried this one on 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 from a friend and if I’m honest, I’m very much 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 about it.I found it a 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬 in parts - quite a bit of 𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧 bits I thought. This made it a bit 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩 to really get into.I enjoyed the 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 aspects of the story. All the 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣’𝙨 and elements of 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙩 and whatnot gave it a really 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠 & 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙮 feel.I don’t want to give away any 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙨 so I’ll do this as vaguely as possible. The ending really 𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙙 me, it came across as almost something done in really 𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚? I’m not sure, it could have just been 𝙗𝙖𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙙.I don’t know wether it was the 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 ending or the fact I was 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 more of a horror feel - whatever the reason, the ending made it all feel like a bit of a 𝙘𝙤𝙥 𝙤𝙪𝙩 to me.🌟🌟 and a half 💫

She’s out there. Waiting for you.

Allie, Rav and their children, two year old Mina and newborn baby Leo have moved out of London and into a lovely old cottage in the real life village of Pluckley in Kent, it's their dream home and they're both really excited about village life, but Pluckley is known as England's most haunted village and, not long after moving in, Allie starts experiencing some very weird happenings; strange scratching noises in the chimney, and what's that flash of white she keeps seeing in the woods at the back of the house? The more she hears about the history of their new home, the more certain she is that the place is haunted and her family are far from safe, but who are they really in danger from?

The Woman in the Woods is a tale of witchcraft and superstition, the plot is well crafted with authentic characters and, having read other books by Hall, it's exactly what you come to expect from this hugely talented author. She knows how to draw her readers in like a moth to a flame, hypnotising you from the very first page and keeping you dancing to her rhythm right to the very last one and, just when you think you have it all figured out she drops in a twist that will leave you with your chin on the floor, wondering what the hell just happened, but that's Hall all over, she's the queen of jawdroppers! This is an incredibly creepy and atmospheric read that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout and is the perfect Halloween read. I highly recommend.

I love all Lisa Hall’s books and this one was no different, although it is a bit of a departure for her. It is brilliantly written and you never quite know what’s real and what isn’t. It’s creepy in parts so maybe don’t read late at night if you’re alone in an old house! But I raced through it and enjoyed it.

    This was excellent!
Everything about this was great. I loved the storyline which explores the supposedly haunted house the family move to not long after the birth of their first child. It was engaging, chilling and certainly had me guessing where the storyline was going. It had a great conclusion with brilliant characters. For a psychological thriller it had everything I love!

This is one of those deliciously creepy stories that would make for an engrossing TV mini-series. The sense of betrayal permeating through the layers of reality makes it a tense page Turner. The supernatural elements are intertwined expertly, creating atmosphere and mystery. I was left with a number of unanswered questions, however. Definitely a very good read.

It was a very misleading book. One that you keep reading because you think there is going to be a great ending only to find it is extremely misleading and disappointing
