From the author of Deep Dark Secrets, a woman investigates the deadly accident she survived, but someone will do anything to hide the truth.

As the only survivor of a horrific car crash, Lila Amberson believes she is on the road to recovery after she is released from the hospital. Her memories of the accident are blurred, though and a series of unsettling incidents leave her fearing for her safety. Does she have survivor’s guilt or is something more sinister at play?

Jack Foley is reeling from the shock of losing his sister in the crash and when he first meets Lila, he lashes out, blaming her for Stephanie’s death. But when Lila gives him a locket that she believes belonged to his sister, it presents more questions than answers.

As Lila and Jack work together to find out what really happened on the night of the accident, they are unaware that someone is watching them closely. Someone who has much to lose if the truth comes out, and someone who is prepared to do everything necessary to ensure all loose ends are taken care of . . .

Dying to Tell is a gripping psychological thriller perfect for fans of authors like Clare Mackintosh, Cara Hunter, and Paula Hawkins.

About the Author

Keri Beevis wrote her first novel at age twenty, but it was a further twenty years before she was published after winning a contract in the Rethink Press New Novels Competition 2012. Born in the village of Old Catton, less than a mile from where Anna Sewell was living when she wrote Black Beauty, Keri had a passion for reading and writing from a young age, though her tastes veered more to the macabre. Today she still lives in Norwich, along with her two naughty kitties, Ellie and Lola, and a plentiful supply of red wine (her writing fuel), where she writes a comedic lifestyle column for a local magazine. She loves Hitchcock movies, exploring creepy places, and gets extremely competitive in local pub quizzes. She is also a self-confessed klutz. Keri joined the Bloodhound team in 2019 and her first release with them, the psychological thriller, Dying To Tell, which is set in her beautiful home county of Norfolk, has been her biggest success to date, with over 1200 four and five star ratings on Goodreads. She is now looking forward to the relaunch of her three earlier novels in 2020.

Ruined by the black dog image...
I would love to read this book as it seems like it would be brilliant but the image of a black dog that covers half the words every few pages is ruining it. I don’t understand why it is there? I’m trying to persevere at the moment but I suspect I will get fed up trying to work out what it says under the images and give up on the book altogether very soon... Very annoying and frustrating. Can anyone tell me why the image is there??

While being driven home from a date, Lila Amberson ends up in a terrible car accident that leaves her with a broken leg and post traumatic stress. But that's not all. Strange things start to happen. Someone is watching her, following her, trying to hurt her - and the closer she comes to remembering what actually happened the night of the crash, the greater the danger to to her life.

From the opening chapters of Dying to Tell, I knew I was settling in for a great read. So many little plot hooks are embedded in your mind - what really happened on the date? How did she end up in the crash? Who saved her, and what were their true motives? But this book isn't just a shlocky roll-out of sub par thrills, there's real heart here. Lila's a great lead character, warm and funny and resourceful; the tension builds in steady, compelling increments, backed by a complex plot that all comes together in a series of fantastic ah-ha! moments; the ending twists one way, then the other, coming together in a thrilling final scene.

It's the sign of a good book that I saved the last third to read when I wouldn't be disturbed. To be honest, if it wasn't for the real world getting in the way, I probably would have read the whole thing in one go. A great book, can't wait for her next one!

Try as I might I just could not hold empathy for the main character, Lila Amberson, she was likable but an irritation. I wanted to focus on the mysteries as the plot developed, but Lila's search for romance was a distraction – although it seemed to me rather juvenile and overly swamped the story. I can see the justification, eventually, but for me this swayed the novel between a thriller and a romantic lit. I almost gave up halfway through.
Perhaps I have been harsh on poor Lila, she has a broken leg from a car accident, and she attends the funeral of Stephanie Whitman, the girl who dies in the other car. She becomes involved with Jack, Stephanie’s brother and this starts off the questions, why had Stephanie’s demeanour changed and what was going on in her life prior to her death?
There is a lot going on in this novel, mostly in the background to Lila’s search for romance, which considering that someone is trying to kill her for no clear reason, takes priority – fairly illogical.
The third-person omniscient point of view did not allow me into the story or psychological depth of the characters' minds, I felt this was missing. In places the background information added a level of deception away from the true culprits and when explained later on the tension rose – the real gripping part began. It was during this action-packed finale that the whole plot unfolded in one short swoop. Yes, the personal stakes were high and the ending conclusive.
I found the development of the plot slow and wanted more involvement in solving the mystery but the meandering focus and the revelations towards the end kept me as an observer rather than an engrossed reader.
On the positive side this was a fair read and all the complications tied up neatly at the end.
I suspect if you like a good mystery overlaid with romantic intentions you will enjoy this novel. I concluded that the prime motivation both for the crimes and the romance was sex.

I really wish I could of given this 5 stars, however there were a fee things that niggled at me.
I found this book through my recommended reads, i was intrigued so purchased.
Lila is a fabulous character, I felt invested in her life, wellbeing and genuinely wanted her to come out on top. Her relationship with her brother is a classic sibling one and was described well.
What to say about Jack? Well he came across well there were a few moments when I didn't dislike him but he came across quite negative.
The mystery surrounding Lila's accident I found quite predictable and I had also worked out who the villan in the story was quite early on.
All in all a good book to pass a few hours but not something that requires complete attention and probably not something I would re read.

Keri Bevis is an author to watch. This is her third book and, I think, the best. With Bloodhound books behind her she will go far.

Set in beautiful North Norfolk, the story begins with a serious car accident. Two cars involved, two fatalities and one survivor. Lila was on a first date, which hadn't gone well so did not know anything much about the driver. The other car was driven by a 17 year old girl.

Lila has a broken leg and once out of hospital she is curious about 17 year old Stephanie so goes to her funeral to pay her respects. It is here that she meets Jack and they do not get off to a good start.

This story covers a huge range of things. Greed and a sense of entitlement. Jack's other siblings, love with security.

Someone is trying to kill Lila. She felt someone was in her hospital room, she was pushed in front of a bus and some-one broke into her flat one night.

This has something to do with Stephanie's death and why she was being threatened before she died.

How do exam cheating, assault and all the other secrets come together. Time will tell and the actions behind these will come to the fore.

This is a brilliant read and you won't be able to put this down until the finish. I am so looking forward to her next one.

I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are all my own and completely unbiased.
