This is an outstanding investment that has already paid off for my daughter. She recently had a job interview and I found several questions in this book that I thought may be asked in her interview. Sure enough some of the questions I chose were asked. What I like about this book is not only does the author give you the questions and answers but she explains why the questions are being asked. Obviously you'll need to tailor your answers to fit your experience and personality so take that into consideration.

If you thinking about a career change or you're entering the work force, seriously consider investing in this book!

Earlier in the year I changed jobs and got a few "interview" books to get myself ready. Even though this book was not the best of the ones I read, it had a number of useful ideas. The book wastes no time on fluff and starts with questions and answers. In addition to a sample answer the author provides an explanation of what the interviewer is trying to found out. This explanation is helpful because even if the sample answer itself does not match your area of expertise, reading the sample answer and the explanation of the goal of the question helps to figure out the best answer that is specific to you.

I do not agree with everything in the book. For example, discussing your marital status and the number of children in response to "tell me more about yourself" or providing the exact year of graduation for someone who might be over 40 years old. Each person needs to decide themselves on various sample answers and adjust what works best for them.

One thing the book does not give an answer for is examples of "good" weaknesses. This is always a tricky question, one needs an answer that is honest but not damaging.

Overall, the list of questions is good, it forces you to think and prepare yourself for being drilled.

So you were looking for a job and got an interview. Awesome! However, that's when the real games begin. Thanks to recession, outsourcing and just a bad economy, less businesses are hiring and when they do decide to hire someone, they are more picky than ever. However, that doesn't mean that you can't land your dream job. All you have to do is fight harder. This book will give you the proper information you need to not only fight the 'fight' but come out as a winner after your interview is over. I love how the author presents the questions that an employer would ask and the appropriate response to it as well (In great detail). If you want to win at your next job interview, make this book a part of your job finding arsenal. Highly recommended.

The format of this book is pretty useful. It opens with a very challenging question about the uniqueness of the candidate. I like the fact that apart from providing answers for the questions, the author has shared some potent tips, which help the reader customize the answers, without focusing on rote learning! I think what is most commendable about this books is the section on why a certain question it asked. It is great insight into an interviewers mind. This book is a good resource to manage interview nerves.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too basic

The answers are too basic/standard, as someone interviewing people frequently I don’t think I would get much useful information from that type of answers. The answers are ‘answer what they expect to hear’

1.0 out of 5 stars Learned nothing new
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 8, 2020
This book was free, and just as well because it's absolutely threadbare and contained very few insights of value, and certainly nothing new I can apply to a forthcoming interview. A lot of the 'tips in here seem incredibly old fashioned too, and don't take account of modern recruitment techniques (e.g competency based interviews, video interviews). I read the whole thing in twenty minutes, there are much better resources online that you can avail of.
