Unforgettable You (Starlight Hill Book 5) Kindle Edition
Dumped by her fiancée, Diana wants a life do-over. What she needs is a change of scenery and she just might find that in Starlight Hill. But when Diana is the victim of a fire and rescued by her teenage crush, she’ll be forced to remind her heart frequently that she’s sworn off men. Tough and wild Scott has changed from his days as a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, making it difficult for Diana to remember why she gave up on love in the first place.
Scott is an adrenaline-junkie firefighter with a wild past until a painful mistake changed his life forever. When Diana’s rescue is filmed and goes viral, his first instincts are to protect and fix. There’s something about being around Diana that makes him feel human again, and like he can be the man she believes he is. The kind of man she deserves.
But first he’ll have to forgive himself …
"..two protagonists who see themselves as unworthy almost let true love pass them by. The townsfolk are both quirky and meddlesome..." ~ review, Booklife Prize, 2016

Review
"Princess gets her own Mr. September: Ms Heatherly Bell (such a sweet and innocent sounding name) can write smutty, smut with the best of them. There were showers, floors, walls, lakes and even a bed...of a truck, used for their shenanigans. If this is clean...I've been mislead. Don't get me wrong, this is not hard core smut, this is just real. - Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2023Diana has returned to the small town of Starlight Hill to spend time with her beloved Grandmother. She is supposed to be there to make sure her Grandmother does not need to be put into a “home”. But, Diana is really there to recover from being dumped by the boyfriend she had for six years.
When the motel where she is staying catches fire, the video of Diana being carried out of the motel in her underwear becomes viral. The fireman, Scott, who saved her life is a boy from her past. The fact that he is a hunk and she is nearly naked, helps the video become very popular.
When they were 16, Scott stood her up and it is burned into Diana’s memory.
But, who and what Scott is presently, is burning into Diana’s heart right now. It is also affecting her private parts.
Thus begins a very hot affair. Diana and Scott believe it is a secret. In no way is it a secret for most of the town of Starlight Hill.
This is a story of small town life and families and comfort and support from people who care for one another.
The town seems like a lovely place to live. And the citizens are all committed to being in everyone’s business but also caring for one another.
Diana and Scott are good lead characters. He is dealing with PTSD, and trying to make up for what he considers his failure in life. She has lost her self confidence and feels unable to find it again. The support they give one another goes a long way to helping both of them.
This is a fun and easy read. If someone is seeking a nice summer read to give a happily ever after, this book may be just what you need.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2023A wonderful stranger-to-lovers romance. Diana was dumped by her boyfriend of six years. Fortunately, her grandmother needed help overcoming the middle generations machinations to force her into an assisted living facility. Diana ran. But the world had other things in mind for her. Like a fire in the motel where she spent the first night in town. Enter Scott, the brooding firefighter for the rescue. Then a video of said rescue with her in revealing lingerie goes viral.
Initially, Diana's mom is a real piece of work. But, when she arrives, she reveals it was all done in love. There's plenty of drama and hurt but not enough to overshadow the good. The story has a delightful ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2023Nicely written with some fun characters, this book is a good one to pass an afternoon. Not enough angst or passion to remember long term, but enjoyable in the moment.
Diana and Scott revise their life and make adjustments. From a FWB situation to a real love connection, I liked how they evolved. Dealing with loss-her fiancé drops her and one of his military friends takes his life-makes their relationship stronger as the go from friends to lovers.
I listened to the audiobook, which was enjoyable as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2020I would have loved to have more of their relationship after it was established! I always feel gypped that the book is mainly going back and forth on I love him or I love her but what if they don't love me and yet you're hoping for a satisfying ending. Now don't get me wrong I think the story had an amazing ending for the couple, but I just wish it had more of their time together as friends and finding out the different parts of each other that they love. Their banter and silliness... I'm left wanting more for sure! Loved the main characters, but there was a lot of repeating of anguish and not enough happy moments together. Still I'm set on reading book 2, can't wait to see what comes next!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2021This action packed home-town adventure is filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twist and exciting edge of your seat passion. A highly entertaining journey from beginning to end and so hard to put down. Diana and Scott have the most adorable sweetly sexy and emotional second chance and I really enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2022I usually read Christian romances exclusively, but this
story grabbed my attention right off the bat, and hubby kept looking over at me when I laughed out loud frequently while reading it. Great storyline and believable characters. I identified with the female heroines writer's block.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2020This story is a touching romance about two individuals that meet by chance not realizing that their lives would never be the same.
Diana was in a relationship with a man for six years. A relationship that went up in smoke when he meets a woman in her mother’s bridal shop and decides Diana is not “the one”. Devastated, she volunteers to check up on her grandmother in the town of Starlight Hills. Hoping to not only help her grandmother, but also overcome her writer’s block.
A fire brings Scott to the rescue. A man carrying a great deal of guilt.
It was touching to see how these two not only develop a relationship, but how they helped each other. But will the past insecurities and guilt keep them apart, or will they find their HEA?
Though mentioned in passing, the author reminds us that many of our troops return home with not only physical but also psychological problems. We , as individuals and as a nation, need to do more to help these brave men and women.
A very good addition to this series

4.0 out of 5 stars Part second chance, part friends to lovers
Part second chance, part friends to lovers, and even though it’s not a fake relationship, there’s a lot of the same angst and tension as if it were. Plus, a hero in uniform! I really liked Diana and Scott. They’ve both got heaps of heavy emotional baggage that they need to unpack that they’re kind of running from, but they’re also trying to do their best by the people they care about at the same time. Diana’s getting an early start on a midlife crisis. Everything she thought she knew about her life has just been upended and now she’s not sure what direction she should take. Scott’s calling is to help the people around him. Some of that’s tangled up in all that baggage, but the rest is just who he is. They’ve walked into this friendship with no expectations, and it freed them up to be themselves without all the social masks and defenses. What that meant is that we got to see Diana and Scott getting real and, eventually, vulnerable with one another; forging a deep connection. I loved watching this pair find their way through their issues, and now I’m looking forward to reading even more about the quirky residents of Starlight Hill.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
