Reading this kindle edition, I learned it is a feature of every culture. Many sources for them have been proposed, ranging from personification of nature or personification of natural phenomena, to truthful or hyperbolic accounts of historical events to explanations of existing rituals. Mythologizing continues, as shown in contemporary mythopoeia such as urban legends and the expansive fictional myths created by fantasy novels and comics. A culture's collective mythology helps convey belonging, shared and religious experiences, behavioral models and moral and practical lessons. The author did an excellent job of researching this topic to make it more understandable and educational. I will definitely recommend it.

I was a little bit leery to begin reading this book, to be honest, because you never know how this subject will be tackled. But It turned out to be very informative information and I learned a whole handful of new things! For one thing: A Golem. More than the weird little dude in the movie, but you'll have to read this book to find out for yourselves - no spoilers from me! The book covers mythology from the following cultures: Jewish, Egyptian, Norse, Christian, Roman and Greek; it also defines the two different meanings of the word, mythology. For folks interested in this topic, I'd say it would be a good, informative choice!

When I purchased this 'book yesterday', it stated that it was for .99c. When I got the email invoice this morning, I was charged for the current listed price of $2.99. Note that this 'book' is @ 20 pages in length! I was expecting and looking forward to learning something new, and unfortunately, that didn't happen. So much for riveting research material...
This 'book' could have possibly been a keeper (i.e. not deleted) if it was sold to me under the cheaper price; since the info in it was nothing new or revealing to me, I had to ask for a refund.

That is a subject that I like to immerse myself in. I like to understand the mind and thinking of the ancient peoples and the ramifications to our times. We do live in an archetypal society. Civilization started with myths, we are making our own myths now. I really enjoyed what I read so far.

This book serves as an introduction to six of the most popular mythologies that ever existed: Greek, Roman, Norse, Jewish, Egyptian, and Christian. If you're not yet familiar with these subjects but want to start learning something about them, you'll probably find this book to be quite useful.

Incredibly disappointed with this, hope to be able to return it, because it is not what my son will be expecting. Title implies it is a book about mythology, but really just a few hackneyed sections.
