In the 1970s, many social happenings became popular and widespread. Unfortunately, not all of them were good, and a trend of serial murders came into being, as well, and society was still far from being as capable of dealing with it as it is able today.
In many ways, the 1970s was the decade that crystalized the concept of the serial killer. Those days of disco past were also the heyday of some of the most notorious serial killers of all time. This book explores some of the best documented of these cases—and some of the most shocking, horrific and downright bizarre. This book does not seek to glorify crime, but it does stand as a testament and a warning about the darker side of human nature.
Some of the 15 cases you will find inside this book include:
- A Killer in Search of Seven Soul
- The Grave Digger
- A Former Mental Health Patient Turned Serial Killer
- The Hammer and Knife Killer
- The Candy Man
- The Casanova Killer
- And many more!

About the author

Jack Smith is fascinated with true crime, specifically serial killers. After finishing his university degree in medicine, Jack continued to become a pathologist. He has traveled far and wide and has seen many cases in the thirty years. Jack started documenting some of the peculiarities in these cases to observe trends among crimes. From this early fascination with murderers, he decided to pursue this by writing about cases that he found most interesting both from a psychological point of view as well as the story behind the murders. He is from Maine and has since retired, allowing him to focus on his true crime research, which he documents in his books.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2020I have read most of the full length books on these killers but found these short summaries very interesting. I have read the 1960's, 70's, 80's & 90's so far. They are a quick read but Jack does a pretty good job making them interesting. I spent most of my 32 year career investigating murders.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2021I absolutely loved this book it was well written and well researched and it took me literally no time to read it because it kept me engrossed and interested till the end. I enjoy the fact that he is splitting up each set of killers into their decades because it allows him to show more about the killers as well as having more in each book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only a half decent book
This book is to short on detail,it also is wrong in places, the Yorkshire ripper came from Bradford a town in the county of Yorkshire, you can't call Yorkshire a town, its about a hundred miles by fifty miles, and has thousands of towns in it.
