This is sweet, but exciting and adventurous love tale. Dusty is a buck wild rambling cowpuncher. He survived the war making him one tough hombre and handsome as sin. Rebecca is a well off debutante form the east, spoiled and used to getting her way. He father and mother are both deceased and she with her pa’s prized stud horse are traveling to live at her brother’s ranch. Dusty is employed to accompany and protect them. They are involved in a near train robbery, but still arrive safely at the Circle C only to find her brother missing. You will enjoy reading this story.

I always love a story that takes place, at least for a while, in a confined space. It increases the tension naturally in a story when things start to go south. Such was the case early in this book, as our hero and heroine are traveling from Pennsylvania to Nevada, bringing the heroine's brother a prize horse—and the heroine. The hero and heroine couldn't be much more different from each other; she's a northern lady while he is a coal miner's son from West Virginia. While they each perpetuate their stereotypes, they both have greater depth as well, as they discover on their cross-country trip. Sparks flew nearly as soon as they met, and this tension between them kept bubbling to the surface as both were strong-willed and stubborn. Almost halfway in their journey, they face unexpected danger. I liked how the author kept it interesting to watch all this unfold, both on the greater story level and on the romance.

I have read a number of books by this author, and they all seem to have the same issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. I did receive an ARC copy of the book, so I double-checked at Amazon to see if the errors were still present in the published version. They are. The one that continually annoys me is that the author doesn't always attach the dependent clause of a sentence to its independent clause, so it's just hanging out there, twisting in the wind, so to speak. Sometimes it was hard to tell which clause surrounding the one in question belonged to. Other than that, I quite enjoyed this Western romance.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

It was a fairly well written book. The characters were described well. This book is a completely clean book. I am someone who likes some steam in my books. Even so I will read the next book in the series.

A wonderfully written story of suspense filled events that kept me entertained throughout the entire book. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from Amazon at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me wondering what next for the characters.

An unexpected meeting reluctantly pulls two souls into a harsh reality. Can be read as a stand alone story, but is so much more as part of the series.
