Discover the remarkable life of Marlon Brando...

Free BONUS Inside!

Marlon Brando has been a household name for decades, and even though he passed away in 2004, his life’s work still stands as a testament to the unique ability he possessed for his craft. Whether he was playing a sentimental yet ruthless mafioso in The Godfather, an insane megalomaniac colonel of the U.S. Army in Apocalypse Now, or a misguided and misunderstood teenager in The Wild One, Brando was a man of all seasons.

Very few could bring characters to life in the way that Marlon Brando did. He was a great observer of life, and his observations were set on a finer scale than most. It was precisely this eye for detail that allowed him to take the world of Hollywood by storm. Despite his success on the big screen, however, Brando’s personal life was plagued by persistent tragedy. From the untimely death of friends, the manslaughter conviction of his son, to his daughter’s death by suicide, Brando had been through more than most by the time his 80 years on earth came to a close.

This book seeks to pull back the layers of hype to bring you the life and legend of Marlon Brando in full detail.

Discover a plethora of topics such as
  • Life at the Military Academy
  • Success at Broadway
  • Becoming a Husband and a Father
  • The Godfather
  • His Son’s Trial and His Daughter’s Suicide
  • Late Life and Death
  • And much more!

Although I knew nothing about Marlo Brando's Life, I looked forward to knowing the facts of his life. This short Biography created exactly what I was looking for. It covered the essential facts of this famous actor's life, yet did so in a way that left me wanting to know more..and perhaps see a few of his film successes. I did see one of his films, "Last Tango in Paris." I knew it was a controversial film in the time period in which it was viewed, but I never had time during that period in my life to learn more. I am excited enough to actually view some more of his film craft. Great size Biography!

This was a good, brief biography of Marlon Brando. He certainly had lots of problems throughout his life but dealt with them by burying himself in his work. I learned many new things about him which I otherwise would not have known as I would not be inclined to read a longer book about him. That is the beauty of Hourly History -- you can read about a variety of subjects without resorting to a lengthy books on the subject. Thank you Hourly History!

One of my all time favorite movies is A Streetcar Named Desire with Brando screaming “Stella”. In the movie The Godfather, he really is Vito Corleone.

No real surprises here. Brando was obviously the victim of an overly inflated ego, but a very memorable actor. Each of the films I saw him in he was always Marlon Brando. Paul Thibodeaux

Marlon Brandon stared on both Broadway and in movies.
He made some of the most memorable movies of all time. He had a life filled with tragedy. Despite this he turned in some of films most memorable moments. I recommend this work for anyone seeking knowledge of this great actor.

This is yet another sad story of an unnaturally talented actor battling his own demons. Personally, I believe he emerged victorious in his own way, but at what price? Having a felon son and a dead daughter would bring most to their knees, but somehow he managed to overcome.
The book itself, in the fashion of all "Hourly History" books, condensed the life of such character in forty-something pages, managing to reflect the most important events.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Overview Of Marlon Brando 1924 - 2004
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 13, 2023
This tells the story of a man, who was a great actor. Who started in the theatre before moving on to the silver screen. Someone who stood up for the less privileged and took on many causes. A man who had the reputation for not being the easiest of people to work with.

Marlon Brando was born in April 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska. The son of a salesman. His mother, did some stage acting. For the young Marlon, he had to deal with her alcoholism.

On completing his education. Marlon moved to New York City. Here he studied acting in more depth. This led to well-received parts in Broadway productions. One of these was A Streetcar Named Desire. When Hollywood, decided to make it, a film. There was only one actor they wanted to play Stanley Kowalski.

Other movie roles followed, showing Brando’s vast talent, like The Wild One and Guys and Dolls. His portrayal of Terry Malloy in On The Waterfront. Won him the Best Actor Oscar. Cinema goers of the 1950s had taken to Marlon Brando.

By now his personal life was eventful, with short lasting marriages and numerous children. The studios were also having difficulties with Brando’s demands. 1962’s Mutiny On The Bounty failed to make the $30 million, it needed to make a return on its investment. Which made this three hour long epic, a box office flop. It is rumored that Brando, clashed with fellow actor, Richard Harris. Adding to the list of different opinions, he was having regularly with various people.

He provided support to the Civil Rights Movement and to the struggles of the Native Americans. Brando, was a regular at demonstrations for these causes. He was a strong opponent of the apartheid policies in South Africa.

By the 1970s. Studio executives, were not keen on employing Marlon Brando. 1972 saw him in The Godfather. The Director, Francis Ford Coppola, was insistent that he was cast in the leading role. Brando’s portrayal of Don Vito Corleone, won him another Best Actor Oscar. He decided to boycott the ceremony. Sacheen Littlefeather, a Native American woman, declined the award on his behalf. Another controversial moment in the life of Marlon Brando.

In between The Godfather and the Oscar ceremony. Last Tango In Paris was released. It gave movie goers, and recognised critics, plenty to discuss. There was a cameo in 1978’s Superman.

Before the decade was out. Brando, had a leading role in the epic Apocalypse Now. It was another film directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

Tragedy was to strike during the 1990s. One of his sons would be charged with manslaughter, which ultimately would lead to one of his daughter's suicide. Both of these incidents were connected.

Marlon Brando died in July 2004. He was eighty years old. Critically, he is viewed as one of the best actors of the 20th century.

There maybe other publications that give a more in-depth analysis? If you want something that covers things in a relatively easy and quick way. Then I recommend this.
