About the author
I've always been a huge fan of Fantasy books, so it makes perfect sense that when the urge to write books hit me, it was a sci-fi story that entered my head.
Hope you enjoy my books.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2024Great character development. Very unique idea for story and I’m here for it. There is a lot unexplained and I am somewhat bugged by it but intrigued. If you must know all the answers immediately, this book is not for you. I am hooked enough and ready to let this story continue to unfold. Well, off to buy the sequel!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2021The premise is unique and the characters interesting, but there are issues with the plotting that tend to take you out of the story toward the end of this boo. It's worth continuing in the series, though, as the plotting gets tighter as the series continues.
For example, [SPOILER ALERT]... nobody in this isolated village notices the guy in the big black coat lurking around its one main street for days?
Some editorial insight would have caught these issues and strengthened the first book.
Still worth a read, but if character and plot misses like these bother you, it will rankle until thebseries hits its stride.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2024That said, I liked the characters and the story,. It seemed to drag a little working up to the excitement. The excitement was over and so was the book. Knowing that it had a sequel didn’t prepare me for the abrupt ending without any resolution of any problem presented up to that point. I’ll read the next book hoping something will be resolved. Keep writing Terry!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 202416 years after a monumental event that claimed the lives of most humans, one existing village is ready to have the first child born at the time of the disaster choose her path in life. (She was actually born on the day of Armageddon.) Chaos ensues when her choice is not expected, sending the village into a tailspin.
What the village council decides affects everyone, especially the just-turned 16 year old girl. 16 is the age they determined is the magic number for adulthood and the time to pick a job.
Interesting premises, but one confusing and big topic left me stymied. It is mentioned that for 16 years the village has worked and planned on the first "choosing". What muddies the water are the statements that the girl is the oldest child and she and her best friend are older than the rest of the kids by a few years; there are no kids older than 16. Supposedly she is the first in all the known villages to boot. So does this means absolutely no children survived the event at all? How did they know that for sixteen years they'd be planning a "choosing" if the attack on humanity was a surprise?
Still, looking forward to the next book. Maybe there will be an explanation then.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting introduction to a new world
A novel concept with a lot of potential. The story moves along at a decent pace and builds to an unexpected ending. Roll on book two!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I love this book and can highly recommend it!
It was very interesting to watch a seemingly simple village develop such dynamics and manipulations. I have so many questions and Terry Schott is teasingly slow in revealing them in this book - it is simply addictive wanting to have these answered!
I „bingeread“ the whole book in less than a day! And I am so excited as to how it will continue... although the ending was a real cliffhanger, as I didn’t even realized when I had reached it and then it was just ...over!!! 😱😨

5.0 out of 5 stars Very mysterious
This is something different, does not run with any zombies at least not in first book. Characters are well defined, you either . Love them or hate them. They all live in a protected village, which they cannot leave except one who they call trader.the children on reaching 16years have to be assigned a trade, that is the rub. I have described it very simplistically which it isn't. I have become hooked, very much good value reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars new favourite author!!!
I read the first chapter of this at the end of one of the game series books (cant wait for the next one)and I had to know more! This book delivered !! I was hooked from the get go , loved all the twists , the familiarity and love felt for every character . Terry really is an amazing author and every book is read with such ease and clarity. Every chapter filled with such in depth storytelling that keeps you reading and telling yourself 'just one more chapter' over again at 4am! I bought the second instalment 'ghost' the minute I finished this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable
I loved it up until page 304 (of 312) and then had a NOOOOOO!!!! moment. I then thought, well I came this far, I may as well finish the last snippet, and all was well.
Great world building, believable characters, to both love and hate, and plenty of plot twists and turns.
I finished and immediately bought the next one.
