As a lifelong lover of books, I've always had a great appreciation for writers and their craft. Over the course of my 50+ years living in different places around the world, I've written a few things, but never took the time to sit down and try to write down any of the books I've dreamed up. In 2021 that changed. A new opportunity to share stories, one episode at a time, prompted me to try my hand at it.

I never could have imagined the positive response my writing received and now I'm happy to expand those stories to a wider audience to build upon what I've already written. Nothing would make me happier than to know that you enjoy my stories. Please find me on social media @HunterCAuthor to send me your feedback.

About me: I grew up in the Midwest and went to a big state school known as much for their football team as anything else. I studied English Literature and History. It was there that I met my wife and we fell in love. We were married when I was in graduate school and during our first few years working after graduation, God showed us the opportunities to be involved in His work around the world.

Since 2000, we've lived outside of the United States, having many amazing experiences and meeting people from around the globe. My experiences traveling and my background in counseling are highly influential in my writing.

Once again, thank you for being my reader! It is my privilege to share my stories with you.

This story follows the main character, Reece, through a post-pandemic, post-apocalyptic landscape where fewer than 20% of Americans have survived. The setting and vibe of the story resonated well with me. However, the storytelling has a solid conservative Christian-style perspective that I found distracting and even a bit preachy. While that was a hindrance for me personally, I know many people will appreciate that perspective. Aside from that, it's a well-written story and the pages turn quickly. So, if that rural conservative perspective appeals to you, then I think you'll really like this book.

As a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, I was drawn to *After It's Over* for its unique premise and hauntingly realistic portrayal of a world ravaged by a pandemic and societal collapse. Hunter Chadwick's writing is both beautiful and thought-provoking, creating a vivid picture of a world where hope is scarce and survival is a daily struggle.

The book's protagonist, Reece Daniels, is a relatable and complex character whose journey is both emotional and triumphant. I appreciated the way the author developed Reece's character over the course of the story, showing his growth and evolution as he navigates the challenges of a world without electricity, internet, and limited food.

The book deals with loss and the struggles of survival in a very realistic way, with a trigger warning for readers. However, for those who can bear the weight of this type of story, it is truly a gripping and thought-provoking read.

Overall, *After It's Over* is a well-written and engaging tale of survival and hope that stands out in the crowded post-apocalyptic genre. The book is full of unexpected twists and turns, and the big twist at the end left me reeling. I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre, and to anyone who enjoys a good story about the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

I just finished reading "After It's Over" by Hunter Chadwick. It's a story about what could happen in our current society if a severe crisis unfolded that most people did not survive...Nor anticipate. The book seems to have been inspired by the covid pandemic.

The book is well written and is free of the proofreading errors that sometimes plague indie books. The characters and plot are entirely believable. It's also free of profanity and okay for younger readers.

My only criticism, and it's a small one, is the timeline of the book could have been a few years further in the future. The book takes place in what is now the present though it was apparently written a couple of years ago. If the timeline was moved up say ten years, I think it would have had a more dramatic effect because in the reader's mind it would still be what's yet to come. And that's not to say that older books like "1984" aren't still good because Orwell's future world is now many years in our past. The future may arrive much faster than we anticipate it becoming the past, a hazard in writing future world fiction.

But overall, it's a first-rate novel that makes you think about how tentative our current existence may be. Good stuff, and the second book I've read by Hunter Chadwick.

Can you imagine a world without electricity and the Internet? Nothing that usually works works. There is no light and darkness all around; there is not enough food. This is how the world after the pandemic is presented in this book. The surreal adventures of Reece Daniels in a world without anything. It will appeal to those who love post-apocalypse survival and simply reflect on humanity’s dependence on the benefits of civilization. Interesting read and thought-provoking

A book about the possible COVID aftermath, which brings out the worst traits of human nature. Well, I can’t argue with that, because it has, if thankfully in a less drastic way than the book portrays. However, it’s also brought out the best as well, and I found myself wishing the book would have portrayed that part better. I do think the time frame is a stretch, all of this happening, not in the future, but from last year on. Maybe I’m just a hopeless optimist, but I think it would take longer than that to devolve humanity to the state this novel begins at, and the date wold have been better pushed out at least 10 years or more.
The writing is good, but the characterizations could definitely be improved, especially the conversations, which don’t really show how the person is talking, so we don’t get to know them as well as we could. The plot is good, so I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a plot-driven novel based on a post-COVID world.

A captivating post-apocalyptic journey that feels eerily close to reality. The unique perspective on global collapse, driven by leadership failures, kept me hooked. The book's realistic portrayal comes with a trigger warning, offering a unique twist by exploring a society brought down by its own leaders. With poignant prose, it's a compelling read that resonates with the vulnerabilities of modern culture.

4.0 out of 5 stars An original take on post-apocalypse themes
Reviewed in Australia on June 20, 2024
'After It's Over' is another, more original idea of a post-apocalyptic society which has been triggered by the few rich, influential people wanting to impose their world order. It follows Reece, who at heart wants to be left to his own devices but he is drawn into the community and despite himself, takes up arms to defend it against a neighboring gang. This was not a violent book but a pragmatic one.

We see how the author describes a way of life without the luxuries we're used to and the struggle for many who have no skills outside the limits of technology. The focus is clearly on helping and being there for each other.

'It's foolish to spin our wheels worrying about the past when there is a future we can impact, just by being willing to care enough to come alongside others and make a difference. Maybe, if more people were thinking like that, we wouldn't be where we are. We can change the world, but not the world of already, only the world of not yet.'

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timely Warning if ever there was one!
Reviewed in Australia on July 31, 2023
Grounded in current facts like WEF wanting the world to be run by a single government and the apocalyptic effects of disabled supply-chains around the world, this story, for me, is a timely warning for people to wake up to the possibility of the happenings in the story actually coming true. The author has created an engaging narrative that spells out just how bad things can get. I like very much the characters and the way they show their different ways of dealing with a broken society.
I didn’t see the change of genre coming in Part 2. I’m OK with science fiction though not sure this was the best way to go in Part 2.
A very well written story that keeps the interest up without a pause. Everyone needs Al for a neighbour!
