4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 124 ratings

To save his one true love, he must marry another.

Ava’s life has never been easy. Her father’s sickness is bound to take his life and, with it, her family’s livelihood. Barely getting by with what they can work off their land, the lass and her sisters know they won’t survive for long. Ava’s only bastion of hope is Cameron’s proposal.

Cameron has loved Ava for as long as he can remember, but being the bastard son Laird Lewis threw away, he knows he has nothing to offer her. However, after his half-brother’s untimely death, Cameron is called to assume his role as the clan’s heir.
Now, he can finally marry Ava; or so he thought.

Having already proposed to his one true love, Cameron realizes that the condition to assume the Lairdship is to marry another, betraying Ava!
But what if abandoning his sweetheart is the only way to give her the life she deserves?

While stuck in this dead-end, another proposal comes, this time for Ava’s hand, wiping away the last chance for them to be together.

"Fooled by the Illegitimate Highlander" is a standalone steamy story by Olivia Kerr, packed with mystery, romance, and redemption set on the beautiful backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Get your copy for FREE With Kindle Unlimited! Enjoy!

Cameron was born out of wedlock. His daddy was the Laird Lewis of his clan and married so he sent Cameron's mama and him away because his wife told him too. He had a legitmate son from his marriage and didn't need Cameron and wouldn't give his name to Him at birth. He was labeled a bastard from birth and his daddy didn't want any contact with him. His mama died. Then Laird Lewis's son was shot by mistake and the man was killed also. Laird Lewis wanted Cameron to take control of his Clan, but Cameron didn't want anything to do with him. His dad told him to think about it. Cameron was in love with Ava and her dad had died leaving her and her two sisters to manage, but they didn't know how. Cameron considered taking job of being Laird but in the end had to add his daddy's name to his and his mama's. His steward knew Cameron loved Ava but he made Cameron become engaged to his daughter who was engaged to his brother that died. Story had a happy ending after all. Thanks, Martha

This has got to be one of the best stories that you have written. Cam and Ava are the story of what love is all about. I absolutely love that you always put in an epilogue, It makes the story complete. On to the next story

They were destined, fated, meant to be together , call it what ever you want. They would not let any thing come between there love. A connection so strong that it sends ripples through you. I am not saying that there were not many steep mountains to climb through there Journey. Which made for an exciting story and even possible stronger love.
Ava Struthers and Cameron Dalziel knew each other since childhood. They were mere peasants amongst the Lewis Clan. Poor and hungry with only hope in there hearts. Cameron was a bastard and his real Father could save him. Only his principles were worth more, than to ask him for help. Circumstances change, plots start, evil lurks, decisions need to me made, betrothals made. In the end could things really work out?
This story is heartwarming, emotionally touching, and sticking to your principles and the one you love. It has everything you can ask for.

Ava and Cameron were destined to be together, they loved each other since childhood. Both households were very poor. Cam wanted to marry Ava and take care of her and her 2 sisters but he didn't even have to means too care for himself properly. Then he gets a summons from the Laird. The Laird's son died and he himself was in poor health. His next of kin was now Cam, his bastard son. The Laird was going to name Cam as his heir. Problems solved? One of the conditions was that he couldn't marry Ava but at least he would have the means to help her. A story of hope, hope lost, lies, deceit, danger, jealousy and abuse. Of course in the end we get a happily ever after.

This is the first time I read a book by this Author and I really loved the story but I am so upset that she is one of those Authors that has a separate Epilogue and I am so frustrated because I can never get it. I am not good on the computer and I am so upset , that I can,t get the epilogue. I have 2 other Authors that do that and I will never read another book by them again. Why can't they put the Epilogue at the end of the story . I really liked her writing and the story but I am not going to this frustration again. that's why I gave it only 1 star.
