Scottish time travel romance; poignant story

I am truly enjoying this series. All of the books have been good, but this one really takes hold of your emotions. Adwen has been a 17th century love'em-and-leave'em playboy. He's spent most of his life as a wanderer. Then he reluctantly becomes the laird of his family's castle and territory. Jane is a 21st century woman transported back to 1649. Her home is now the castle where her brother-in-law is the laird. She takes a job at the village inn because she's restless and somewhat bored. When she meets Adwen at the inn and soundly rejects him when he immediately tries to charm her into bed, she becomes irresistible to him. Their love story is sweet and engaging. Secondary characters like Jane's nephew, the wise-beyond-his-years Cooper and Orick, Adwen's best friend, are an integral part of the story and add depth to it. I will definitely continue reading this series. Based on the ending of this book, I'm really hoping that Orick will be a part of the next one.

I have enjoyed this entire series but this one is SPECIAL!! This could be a stand alone book; however, I guarantee you will want, need and DESIRE to read the next one! In this sixth (6th?) book of the series, 21st century Jane gets her own story set in 17th century Scotland. Ms. Claire nails this story! The main characters are all multi-faceted, and character development is spot on. Jane and Adwen are perfect for each other, or at least I thought. I am pleased that precocious little man Cooper has a prominent place in this book Ms. Claire has out done herself on this one. The emotions; grief, humor, sizzling passion and love are played out so well and the emotional roller coaster is a wonderful ride! The story and the roller coaster, moves at a good clip. When I was 1/4 through the book I knew I HAD to finish it in one sitting. I did and now I cannot wait for April 28th, when the next book is available. We got your message Ms. Claire: Life is shorter than we think, so go for the gusto! Bravo on a job well done.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This is Jane's story on finding love with a Laird.

Jane decides to get a real job outside the Castle life. She needs to be useful, not sitting around having people wait on her. When she meets the newest Laird at work, he makes a mistake by hitting on her.

Adwen just inherited the title of Laird against his wishes. Now he wants to celebrate his last night as a single man with no responsibilities. But hitting on the girl from the future was just plain stupid.

He likes her sass and wants to get to know her more, but she insists on friends only. But he has a plan in place to win her over.

Can't want for the next book!

This was book 5 of a 7 book series. That I continued to buy each book as soon as I finished the previous one says a lot about this author's writing style. I found the genre interesting, a 'what if' fantasy mixed with romance between men and women born in separate centuries who meet with the help of a loveable, meddlesome modern day witch. Although the witch manages to connect the couples, she often has no control over unforeseen consequences of her magic. Her characters are well developed and interesting, the backdrop, Scotland and its castles believable. I am waiting for book 8 to see what happens to the witch.
