Kill and Cure: Il Lupo 2.0 Kindle Edition

4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

Charlie Mortimer is a werewolf. There are three ways he can be cured: the first is unavailable due to circumstance; the second necessitates his own death; the third, and most dangerous, requires him to find a vampire, and take its life to save his own.

Charlie is supported in his quest by a retired history teacher, a grieving and self-medicating friend, a Harley Street psychiatrist, a critical thinker from the Amalfi Coast, and a witch from the Highlands of Scotland. Together they are formidable, but will they be enough to take on a crew of London gangsters, under the leadership of one of Satan's children? Or maybe there is another way after all!

The sequel to Il Lupo, Kill and Cure is a distinct story in its own right, yet follows in the footsteps of its predecessor. Expect more thrills, more cliff-hangers, and more twists and turns, as Charlie, Frobisher and the rest face seemingly insurmountable odds.

Do I need to have read Il Lupo in order to enjoy Kill and Cure? No.
Will I want to go back and read Il Lupo after reading Kill and Cure? Probably!

Gregory Alexander Sharp is a professional services executive who has worked for some of the world's best known tech and consulting companies. He's always been something of a storyteller, and a huge fan of the supernatural tales that made his spine tingle as a boy.

Novels:

IL LUPO, his first published novel, draws on Greg's love for the classic Hollywood horror movies (think Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and of course, Lon Chaney Jnr), but also on his own personal experiences with loss, and grief, and anxiety. Woven together with a real sense of building tension and jeopardy, and with a smattering of Greg's sense of humour, Il Lupo is the first book he always wanted to write.

KILL AND CURE builds on the themes from Il Lupo and drives them ever further, with Nick Frobisher struggling to manage the stresses of work, grief, and his best friend's lycanthropy. We are introduced to gangsters and vampires, and we reconnect with familiar characters. Kill And Cure has been written in such a way that it can be read as a sequel to Il Lupo, or can easily stand alone as a distinct story.

Short-story:

THE BRIDGE, which touches on how adult problems can easily cause damage to teenagers in the home. Again, Greg brings personal experiences to the fore here. In less than four thousand words, we are introduced to a broken heart, a disrupted education, bullying, public humiliation, the perils of social media, and mental health problems... oh, and watch out for the ghost!

Greg is currently working on a new novel which promises to be a tale of friendship, betrayal, love, loss, and revenge! Watch this space.

I like how Sharp suggests vampires are evil because they have lost something essential to their humanity. I can understand the temptation Charlie faces. Lycanthropy has granted him so much health, vitality, and the fountain of youth. I would find it hard to give that up! I felt sorry for Ernest, as he's suffered more than Charlie and Nicholas put together. I enjoyed accompanying Charlie, Nicholas, and Ernest to London's throbbing nightclubs, Italy's picturesque Amalfi coast, and Scotland's Cairngorms National Park. Kill And Cure: Il Lupo 2.0 gradually builds in power as the story unfolds until it reaches a brutal and thrilling climax. My only complaint: the novel left me wanting more!

"Kill and Cure," the thrilling sequel to "Il Lupo," follows the gripping journey of werewolf Charlie Mortimer and his unlikely team facing daunting challenges. While standing alone as a captivating story, it maintains ties to its predecessor. Filled with suspense, unexpected turns, and a battle against London gangsters led by a sinister figure, this novel doesn't require prior reading but will likely leave readers eager to explore "Il Lupo" afterward. An exhilarating tale packed with twists that keeps you hooked till the end

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Sequel!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2024
I read the the first novel and I was ecstatic when the author announced a sequel. It did not disappoint!
The book continues pretty much right where the predisessor left off. With returning characters Charlie Mortimer, Nicholas Frobisher and good old Ernest Wainwright, but also introducing new characters which added extra fizz to the storyline.
Charlie, having received an unwanted curse as an Lycanthrope, is set about finding a cure from the curse with the help of his friends. They are informed that vampires could be the key to curing Charlie.
With Ernests past surprisingly announced in the first book, he has past friends and acquaintances who could possibly help them. They soon learn that they may have to come face to face with creatures that they would of only seen in films or read about in books.
This book has werewolves, vampires and witches, I mean, who doesn't love the supernatural?
I would highly recommend this book! But check out book 1 first, you will not be disappointed!

Authoritative and intricately plotted, the story masterfully explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the battle between good and evil. The author crafts a world where alliances are tested, resilience is forged, and hope flickers even in the darkest shadows.just loved it made my weekend .

5.0 out of 5 stars An edge of the seat ride/
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 7, 2023
I read Il Lupo 2.0 with the idea that it would be like the first. I was looking forward to returning to the big sweeping storyline of the last book, a rolling literary piece. This was not the case at all. Il Lupo 2.0 was vastly different in so many ways. This, I have to add, was not a bad thing. This was great. I was constantly engaged constantly on the edge of my seat, trying to work out what was going to happen and did not guess all. The Author was now working with established characters and their relationships, and they worked through a new set of problems raised by the Werewolf curse. If you work out the twists, you are a better person than I. Especially the big one that got me totally.

This Author has written two great books with differing writing styles. What is so impressive is that he has done so, so very well. He realised that the two books needed these differing styles, and both worked so well.

He also shares a love of the subject material and brings personal experiences to his work. He deals brilliantly with personal interactions between his characters, the difficulty of friendships and mental health issues carefully and with an understanding whilst chucking a werewolf in the mix for furry fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another thrilling read!

Another ‘on the edge of my seat’ read! After Il Lupo, I was eagerly awaiting 2.0 and it did not disappoint - expanding on the people I loved from the first book, and introducing exciting and interesting others along the way. Still feeling as if I was travelling while unravelling the plot along with the characters, I couldn’t put this down and thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns. Would highly recommend even if this isn’t your usual genre of book.
