The Ghosts of an Outlaw's Past: A Historical Western Adventure Novel (Heroes of the Wild Frontier) Kindle Edition
August Flint is a former outlaw who wants nothing more than a quiet life in a peaceful place. He forsakes his past and relocates with his companion, Hattie, to Telluride, Colorado, a realm where the sun-kissed streets seem to promise redemption. There, he accepts the position of sheriff, believing this to be a sign that he’s finally become the person he’s meant to be. However, a ghost from his past threatens to overturn everything he’s worked for.
He wonders if he should have kept running…
Hattie Harrison has also left her former life behind. She isn’t running from her own crimes, though, but from the crimes of her former betrothed, Ulysses Duke. Now, with August by her side, hope kindles in her heart that she can finally live a life free from the torment she’s left behind. But as their love blossoms, a figure from her past life shrouded in mystery and malice reemerges with a claim to the town's lifeblood.
If Hattie's identity is revealed, her life is over…
August and Hattie can either confront the demons of their past or leave behind everything they’ve worked so hard to build. As they fight, they must also confront their own feelings for each other and the fear that has kept them from truly embracing the future they both want. Can they defy the malevolent forces that seek to dominate their lives and finally forge their own paths?
"The Ghosts of an Outlaw's Past" is a historical adventure novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cliffhangers, only pure unadulterated action.

About the author

Born and bred under the Texan sun, Henry McConley embodies the spirit of the Wild West in his words. Nestled in a rustic ranch outside San Antonio, he's a storyteller with a deep love for the rugged frontier.
A rancher by day and a wordsmith by night, Henry crafts tales that echo the untamed landscapes of his homeland. He inherited his storytelling prowess from his grandpappy, who spun yarns around the campfire under starlit Texas skies.
When not herding cattle or penning his next masterpiece, Henry takes to the open trail on his trusty steed, seeking inspiration in the rolling hills and hidden canyons of the Lone Star State. He's a true Texan through and through, and his stories breathe life into the heart of the West.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024Good story and great story telling but got draggy in the middle. When a tale gets slow I pickup another book, won’t tell you I read four books while I took a break from this one….it was only three. Thanks for a terrific ending and you didn’t kill off anyone I was attached to.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2023This fascinatingly series of ongoing problems is definitely five stars worthy, as the good guys are always being challenged by the bad guys from beginning to end!
Once again Mr. McConley blesses his readers with an ongoing series of exciting storylines that will appease anyone's desired expectations cover to cover! No slowdowns throughout this compelling western masterpiece of ongoing excitement! Too, the compelling compilation of outstanding characters only adds to the never ending series of unending, realistically motivated, western adventures! Hard to put this one down until the final episode has been fully absorbed!
Most definitely recommend this compassionately realistic old, dyed in the wool, series of unending excitement to all readers, as each new adventure is more exciting than the previous encounter! Even you nonwestern fanatics will love riding along with these dedicated individuals, who stand for justice in their quest for freedom!!!😃
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2023This book starts with a band and then slows down to let the reader learn more about the characters. As the title indicates, both main characters had run from the villain and only after he comes in to take over their town do they realize they both are facing the same demon. The characters are well defined, there is plenty of action and once again Henry McConley shows that the women of the Old West could be equal to, or in some cases more creative than the men when it comes to protecting the town.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2025This story has a fast paced and violent plot. The characters are strong and well written. It is very bloody. It does keep you interested, and it is hard to put down.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2023This is another great Henry McConley read! A reformed outlaw turned peace officer and a runaway bride turned saloon owner, oppose the same evil man seeking vengeance and collide in a gold rich Telluride! Henry McConley's well developed characters are once again woven into another masterful western romance full of tension and excitement. You will want read this one without putting it down and then want another to take its place after the conclusion.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2023Great story but a couple of discrepancies in the information at the beginning. If the extended epilogue is part of the story it should be included in it. I did read and it was pretty much useless information. Won’t be reading any more by this author for that reason
