All of these recipes are unique and easy enough to prepare!!! I love how simple all of the instructions are and how a majority of the recipes do not require a bunch of ingredients! I'm the most excited about making the soup and dessert recipes!!!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and HiddenGems for the e-book copy. Below are my honest opinions.
The introduction really hyped up the types of dishes that came from the 20s and just how creative and savory they were. And most of the recipes lived up to the hype.
Personal favorites included: Cucumber Salad, Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes, Scalloped Potatoes with Ham, and the Creamy Tomato Soup. Each recipe was simple to follow, even those with multiple steps, that required some extra time.
The desserts were a bit of a letdown - nothing extraordinary- but the drinks were superb. The Chocolate Malt Mocktail is amazing.
I was definitely not impressed, though, with there being a "recipe" for Cheese and Crackers. Furthermore, in the Chicken Caesar Salad recipe, one of the ingredients is "Caesar Salad Dressing." I would expect a cookbook to at least include recipes for any additional dressing or the like.
Nevertheless, still enjoyed the recipes I tried and am excited to try out some more.

So many wonderful recipes that seem to have fallen out of favor like tomato aspic, ambrosia salad, Welsh Rarebit. This is a wonderful series of cookbooks and I'm loving making these simple, delicious meals that I have always loved.

Quite a few of the recipes were not from the 1920s. A few would have not been found in your average household but instead in the rich households. I was hoping more for the recipes that reflected that time era, the depression.

This book has some amazing recipes from the past. I look forward to trying some of them. Recommend reading this book.

Perhaps it's because I learned to cook from my great-grandmother, who herself learned to cook in the 1920s, but I was honestly surprised at how many of the recipes I make fairly regularly were represented in this book! I likely won't change great-gran's scalloped potatoes and ham to match this recipe, but I did learn a few tricks to change up some other recipes that don't have as much emotional heft for me. I also enjoyed the cocktails and mocktails section thoroughly - I didn't get to live through the Roaring 20's, but I can now drink like I did :)

Easy to follow recipes
Might be able to make and enjoy more than half the recipes in the book, usually only find a few, I’m quite picky.

I enjoyed reading the recipes in Keven Palmer McDermott's vintage recipes of the 1920's. I was kind of cool looking at the way the recipes are included. I liked that under the main course section, you were presented with the recipes for fried chicken with mash potatoes or meatloaf with brown, gray including both recipes for meatloaf with brown gravy. There were some recipes I had never heard of, like ambrosia salad, that I cannot wait to try. For anyone who loves cooking this is a cookbook to have.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
