Dice Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 85 ratings

Wasuan Wells has two loves--one is his beautiful girl of two years, Enychi Carter, and the other is his love for dice. Rollin' dice is an everyday hustle for Wasuan, and he's one of the best the hood has ever seen. No one can defeat him. That is, until he stumbles across a dude from the same hood named Tone who has just as much confidence, a little too much mouth, lots of cash to back it up, and a strong desire for Wasuan's girl. When Wasuan is challenged and the stakes grow high, he finds himself caught out in deeper waters than he can swim in, with Tone dangling three options: pay up, take your last breath, or sacrifice something much greater...his girl, Enychi. But when Enychi agrees to spend one night with Tone in order to save her man's life, she finds herself caught up in an unwilling love triangle like the streets have never known. Love, betrayal, lies, sex and money are just the beginning in this scandalous tale, where loyalties are put to the ultimate test.

In this new novel, T. N. Baker takes the term "sheisty" to a whole new level.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Baker (Sheisty; Still Sheisty) delivers a tale about the dangers of gambling and hustling and of the redemptive powers of love and faith. Cocky hustler and second-generation dice-shooter Wasuan Wells and his girlfriend Enychi Carter get in deep when Wasuan takes on a challenge from neighborhood heavyweight Pretty Tone, who unlike Wasuan, has the money to back up his trash-talk. Caught up in the heat of the game, Wasuan loses $80,000, but can only pay back half the debt. Tone offers to forgive part of the debt (and not to kill Wasuan) if he can sleep with Enychi. Enychi reluctantly agrees. From then on, there's the requisite pregnancy (but who is the baby daddy?), loads of sex, betrayals, emotional discoveries, murder and redemption. Although Baker captures how her characters would speak, think and act, the plot unwinds in familiar fashion. Consider the novel entertaining if you care for the "Oh no, he/she didn't" factor.

*First let me start off by saying thank you all so much for supporting me...and PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DICE IS THE CONTINUATION TO THE SHORT STORY IN CREAMS ANTHOLOGY ROLLIN' DICE!

Thank you!

Much Luv!!!!

T.N. Baker is a product of the quote, 'Hard work pays off.' Before becoming an Essence Magazine bestseller she worked as a receptionist during the day and bartended at night. Her drive for success led her to enroll in college preparatory classes. There she was able to take a creative writing course and hone a longtime hobby into a passion and career.

'When I was younger, creative writing and language arts were always my favorite classes. I didn't realize I had a passion for writing until I put pen to paper and wrote my first few poems.' Baker began writing poetry when she was about 17 years old. These poems began to manifest into short stories which she shared with her class.

The author's first few pieces were descriptions of how her parents met and their relationship's turmoil. She then began to develop characters for a story called Sheisty. After reading a few passages of this multi-plot tale, her teacher began to push the option of writing as a career to T.N.

Baker's writing teacher sent the story to Vickie Stringer, publisher of Triple Crown Publications. Stringer loved what she read and gave T.N. a two book deal. Sheisty went on to become a national bestseller as well as its sequel, Still Sheisty.

T.N.'s stories are filled with passion, betrayal, friendship and drama. These were the elements that made the 1994 book, The Coldest Winter Ever, a page turner. The Sistah Souljah novel just happens to be the first book Baker ever read. 'That book really sparked my interest for reading. Each character was so rich as every scene poured off the pages and into my imagination so vividly. I hope readers are able to visualize my adaptations just like that,' said Baker.

'I'd like for my readers to take away from this novel that sometimes you can't help who you love. Although they may have wronged you in the past, sometimes it's just meant to be. Love can conquer all,' said T.N. about Dice's message.

Although Baker's books are drama-packed, she is mildly mannered and is a self proclaimed homebody. She does however, likes to travel abroad and spends time with her daughter.

T.N. Baker was born and raised in Jamaica Queens, NY and currently resides in Charlotte, NC with her 12-year old daughter.

TN Baker does the dayum thang with Dice. I really enjoyed this novel. In my opinion this book is the best of Ms. Baker's books. It seems that she writes in another voice, than when she wrote her first two novels. This book will have you falling in love with the characters, even when they are dead wrong. I found myself rooting for Enychi and Wasuan...regardless of what they went through. I found a love story wrapped around the things that happen in the street life....Does love conquer all? It seems to be that way...come and take this ride with Enychi as she finds out that all that glitters still can't replace love...and as Wasuan finds out that some things are just priceless....Does dice dictate and rule Wasuan's life or does he come to senses and make things right? Is Enychi the hunter or the prey? Well the only way to find out is to.....yeah get the book, you won't be disappointed. Dice is a quick and easy page turning read.

"Dice" by T.N. Baker was a page turner!!! I enjoyed this book, only I been so busy it took me longer than usual to read it!
Wasaun and Enychi were a happy young couple. Wasuan loved Enychi, and Enychi loved Wasuan. Only Wasaun loved gambling a little more.
When Wasuan makes a bet he can't afford against a big baller named Tone, he doesn't have the 80 G's, so Tone asks for one night with Enychi.
Enychi is enraged that Wa could use her as a pawn in his sick games, but agrees to spare her mans life....
And the DRAMA begins from there!!!!

Found it at the dollar tree, I like urban books :) It was ok, an easy read. Was a little cheesy/corny to me some. Several typos in the book-didn't like that.
