Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

This reference book has much to offer many. Indispensable for the novelist, with gore-filled chapters and multiple car crashes spewing limbs and guts, Dr. David Page's opus will also be treasured by medical enthusiasts, hypochondriacs, and those who like lively bathroom reading. From trench foot to crunched legs, massive hemothorax to flail chests, Body Trauma is educational, comprehensive, and a jolly good time.

This book has a lot of informative reference material inside. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to delve into writing about injuries, murder and mayhem.

This is a great read. Not only does it give me great insight into the effects of different trauma it also is a great tutorial on human anatomy and the results that can occur from trauma. Much more than I expected. Worth the money and then some.

An intersting book with excellent wound descriptions however I wanted to know more of wounds made "traditional" weapons like dagger/knife, sword, axe, and other historical type weapons to different parts of the body. Some aspects helped but I wanted more detail. (What would happen if the wound was not treated...12th century did not have much assistance on the battlefield) As a fledgling writer there good ideas in this book. Great for those writers who are into crime etc. perhaps in his next book David Page could write about wounds caused by the ones I mentioned above.

Oversize, aka 'trade' paperback.
The cover feels like it might have a protective coating on it, but I haven't spilled coffee on it yet, so I can't guarntee that.

Highly reccommended by writer friends, but it turns out this is a primer on trauma with broad categories and general discussions of the effect of various trauma on the body. It's a great place to start, but not nearly enough detail for my needs. It includes some injuries I hadn't thought of, so it's not a total waste of money, but I'm glad I didn't have to spend more for a hardback.

This book is very instructional in giving writers information on various types body blows, wounds, and injuries I just wished the author would've spent more time on the various types of firearm and edged weapons wounds.

I am an EMT and working towards becoming a medical examiner, this gives a good look into how trauma works and from my experience as an EMT it does have correct information regarding different types of injuries.

This was a decent book for beginners dealing with injuries and wounds, however, I feel like it could have been more in-depth on what certain types of injuries look like, how they affect the body, and how they are treated. A lot was crammed in, which is good, but not enough details about specific types of trauma.
