What She's Looking For Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 241 ratings

What if the very thing you crave is that which you most fear?

Ashley is a woman running from her past — and from herself. Ten years of marriage to a man who took his dominance too far has left her scared, but defiant.

Fleeing west is a chance to start over, to rebuild her life, for once fully in control of herself. But inside she suspects it's that control itself that's the real problem.

She doesn't want it. Any of it.

A beautiful resort town in central Washington holds more than a new beginning though. It's also the home of two gorgeous men: the stern, possessive Parker, and the dark, brawny Drake. Can she risk herself again, once more surrendering to the forbidden pleasure of being subject to male desires?

In the arms of not one, but two, strict Dominant men, she might yet find the peace she's looked for all her life. The peace she's only found in the bonds of utter submission — this time as the property of two Doms.

But as she learns more about these mysterious men, will she realize that it's not only her heart at risk?

Is the fierce and raw desire to mix pain and pleasure wrong? If you find yourself yearning to be owned, to have your every move dictated to you, to submit your body along with your mind to another would others find you twisted? Do you question your needs, wants and desires and hide them with a fierce intensity to avoid being labeled? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you are going to love this book.

I read this book based on author name alone. Having read other books by Trent Evans I knew I was in for a story that would take me places I could never imagine. Trent has the ability to write a story with such a raw and real feel to it that he claims ownership of the readers mind within the first sentence. Knowing this story was a bit different from his previous books I could not wait to see what was in store for me within the pages of What She’s Looking For.

I was under the spell of his words, owned by his thoughts and lost all ability to control my mind while reading this intense and captivating story.

As with all of his books the character development was perfect. The physical attributes of the characters were well defined and combined with the intense emotional aspects I found an instant connection with each and every character in the book.
The storyline unlike any I have read in the past was intriguing as each of the characters in this book seemed to hold their own story. Interweaving these stories together made this such an easy story to read. I was spellbound by the intense sexual situations, eager to find out as much as I could into the workings of the characters mind and entranced at the feelings of doubt, longing, indecision, desire and the confusion.

The one thing that I love about this author is that he challenges the reader. He writes the words that expand the readers thought process. At times making them question what it right and what is wrong and who holds the power to answer that question.
This intense story is of a woman who is hiding from her fears, looking to live a life without complication. This is a story of two men, different in so many ways except for one a desire to own a woman, to have complete control over her… to enslave her. When their lives collide our story starts.

I will admit that once I started reading this book I could not put it down. The author cast his spell and I became a slave to his words. He dominated my mind, taking ownership of my body and at times it felt like he controlled my breathing.

The sexual situations in this book were more than anything I could imagine and I will admit I was left breathless. The intensity of the power held me captive. I could feel the fear, the sharp sting of his hand, the terror of his belt, the shame of exposure and the deep seated longing of desire. The feeling of confusion and the internal fight of not understanding the feeling of desire played with my mind. The intense feeling of needing body to body contact melted my soul. Fighting the dark in hopes of finding love play into this story as well. I will admit that I longed for the times that the author allowed us to indulge in those hopes.

I was and still am under the authors spell having read this book. My hope is that we will be treated to more. Dare I say that I am longing to read the story of the young college student who played a small role in this book but left an impression in my mind that I am finding hard to shake.

Not for the faint hearted, this book of a woman and her bonding with an alpha male. Really I should have rated this 3.5 stars. I think Trent did a really good job here but a few plot niggles that had me over thinking how I wish he had written it. That said I found it pretty hot. While Ashley is 'forced' at times, it is still always consensual. That said if this sort of thing bothers you, then I wouldn't read it. I really felt the 'realness' of Ashley's internal musings at her situation - and I liked the amount of detail used to set up each scene. I believe he has set up the book to allow for a second in the series and hope that he does so.
Very little is said about her job and the town. Pretty much the whole of the book is on the two main characters Ashley and Parker and how their relationship develops.

I enjoyed this book to an extent but it was also somewhat frustrating. I liked that fact that we got to meet the characters and get a sense of them before the sex starts. The plot revolves around Ashley, a woman who moved to a small town in Washington state to start over after escaping an abusive D/s relationship. She moves into a spare guesthouse owned by Parker. We learn that Parker has a roommate, Drake, who he "shares everything with" because Drake once saved his life when they were in the military. Okey dokey. They also have an occasional guest, Erik, who's in college. The characters start off very personable and I enjoyed reading about their interaction despite the insta-lust all the male characters feel for Ashley at first sight (and vice versa).

For me the book started to deteriorate a little once they start negotiating a sexual relationship. THIS MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS. Parker gets aggressive with Ashley pretty quickly after she moves in and IMO uses somewhat coercive tactics to get her to agree to a TPE D/s relationship. She is gun shy about a new D/s relationship so soon (a few days/weeks?) after ending a bad one. When she tries to raise her concerns, Parker is somewhat adamant that she not question him. He frames the proposal as a series of "choices" but really they are ultimatums. If you do things exactly my way then we can pursue a relationship, if not then we won't. When Ashley raises the idea of going more slowly he will not hear of it. There is no discussion about limits, boundaries, or mental states, just all or nothing.

What also get s confusing is that they never speak to each other very clearly or directly. We know that Ashley was abused (maybe raped?) in her previous relationship because her former boyfriend "didn't know how to take no for an answer". Parker is livid about this when he finds out. The thing is that Ashley keeps thinking and saying that sometimes she liked it and she also doesn't want any choices. She is not very clear about communicating what she wants and seems to be uneasy with her own desires, which makes her seem like a bad candidate for a TPE relationship at this time. Both Ashley and Parker hint that they have very "dark" desires but they are never very clear about what these desires are, outside of the ménage Master/slave dynamic. Nothing overly dark happens in this book. At one point Parker reassures Ashley that he would not be put off any desires she might have. He seems to assume that her desires will correspond perfectly with his. What if her dark desires were necrophilia or scat?

Drake is almost an afterthought in the relationship. There was never any sex between just Drake and Ashley. They hint at the idea of incorporating Erik into the scene somehow but it never happens. The ending felt a little rushed and I almost feel as if there should have been more story. Overall I feel like it had potential but didn't deliver. The main characters didn't seem mentally ready for the type of relationship they were proposing. Any HEA is pure convenience not based in the reality of actual human dynamics.

This was an intense story about a woman and the two men that own her, heart and soul. The dynamic between Parker, Drake and Ashley is an intense one. This is not a book for every reader. There are times I did not like what happened ie the face slapping of Ashley. (Just a personal pet peeve of mine). Other than that it is all consensual on Ashley's part.

My only issue with the book itself was that I felt that the "prolog" should have been the "epilogue" instead. Because we know after the prolog that there is a HEA ending and things work out well for the three of them. Also, I would have liked to know how the young college student factored into the story. Hopefully Trent will write a sequel and let us know if Ashley has 2 Doms or 3. Might be fun reading about a baby Dom being brought into the mix. Seems he had a crush on Ashley before being shipped back to college never to be brought back. Still a 5 Star book IMO. Well done Mr. Evans!
