- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2024This book started off kind of slow and was hard to follow. But toward the end it picked up very nicely and became quite enjoyable.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2013I read a wide variety of ebooks, from both well known and indie authors, in almost every genre (other than romance), and this is as good a read as anything I have read lately.
This book presents a new character (Mitch Tanner) that I look forward to reading more about. The story line has some interesting twists that you don't see coming (and a couple you do) that made it suspenseful and kept my interest. Generally speaking, I am tired of the "flawed cop" books, but this one was different enough to hold my attention and the characters were someone you were interested in.
For the first book in a series, the characters were well developed, and not one dimensional, like they are in many books. Generally it seems like it takes 2-3 books in order for the characters to come to life and have depth to them, but this time, the characters seem real in the 1st book.
This is a very easy to read book in that the author does not try to describe every detail of the scene (I know what a blue sky with clouds looks like, no need to take up a paragraph to describe it), nor does he feel the need to use words that have you using the dictionary constantly just to determine what he is trying to say.
If you want an easy to read, light, suspense novel, this is one you want.
If you are on the fence, give this one a try, you won't be disappointed.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025All of L.T. Ryan’s books are great! Mitch Tanner is another example of a lead male that you will fall in love with. Each book is full of suspense and a little bit of love mixed in.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2017It was a good story but way over played in the drama. I like a good guy bad guy story but this went way over. The writing is not the best I’ve read. Maybe college or even high school level. Some profanity, which I find useless, so I would not recommend. It would be a good book for young readers if not for the profanity. Too bad. I feel kids need to read more instead of electronics. But would not recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2024Loved it. Going to read the next book. I hope it is as good or better than this first book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2017Homicide Detective Mitch Tanner has a mess of a life! All we know is his wife and small son have been "gone", "missing", "vanished", for a year? Somehow he makes it through each day focusing on work and his 6 year-old daughter, Ella Kate. Mitch's mother is a hoot, but a definite help with his daughter! Detective Sam Foster is his best friend and partner.
First they get a case that looks like an accident; then children are kidnapped from a school in the middle of recess. The cases are very complex and hard to solve. The FBI get involved and Mitch and Sam get embroiled in politics instead of being allowed to do what they do best. That is, solve the crimes, find the kids.
This storyline has good suspense, well-developed characters, and lots of evil turmoil! Mitch and Sam are very likable, and the mystery of what happened to Mitch's wife and son will keep me reading this series for sure. An exciting, engrossing read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book from LT Ryan
Excellent . The type you can’t lay down and hate when you have to... End of each chapter and at last you feel the character is getting somewhere only to be stopped dead in your tracks at start of next chapter.....Surely things can’t get worse or more complicated...but they do...oh yes they do ,!
The plot thickens but never drags and you are kept on tenterhooks all the time ..In a way, it’s an emotional rollercoaster as you almost feel you are there alongside Mitch Tanner , Great read folks Great author Buy the book and you won’t be disappointed Can’t wait to start on book 2
