Review

"...big hit with my kids (ages 6 and 4) who are big into imagination adventure right now...I'm interested in the others in the series that continue to address real life problems our kids will face." - The Write Balance"This story, like the rest of the books, has a good message for young readers. The illustrations are lively and delightful and readers will love seeing their favorite characters in another setting. Matie the goat is a new character in this story. Do you like her? I like her and the manner in which she helps the crew quench their thirst. The entire series is good for one's personal collection because of the messages it conveys through the stories and the lovable characters that are introduced to young readers. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series to find out what surprises Captain No Beard and his crew have for readers."Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite"The characters' expressive eyes convey their emotions, whether they are scared, sad, angry, or upset...A fun story for children and adults alike, The Crew Goes Coconuts! takes a positive way to turn bullying around, while entertaining, too. Pirates, animals, and coconuts make an amusing story from which to learn." - Beth Van Houten, Foreword Review "The author doesn't disappoint in her latest pirate tale, once again seamlessly weaving wonderful life lessons for children into a fun adventure story among friends. the illustrations are fun and full of emotion, leaping off the page with their charm, humor and energy. The affection among the crew is evident, even when things get a little heated. Here Roman's talent shines, as she shows that friendship is an evolving relationship that ebbs and flows-and flourishes with a little bit of understanding. Another heartwarming pirate story by Roman." - Kirkus Reviews "Just like all of the Captain No Beard stories, The Crew Goes Coconuts is super kid-‐ friendly with bright illustrations. It contains all of the familiar and favorite characters of books past, plus the introduction of Matie the goat, and fans of the series will enjoy boarding the Flying Dragon once again with all of their old friends. New comers to the series will appreciate award-‐winning author Carole P. Roman's easy-‐breezy storytelling style--and it's quite possible these new young readers (and those being read to) will go completely coconuts for the entire series." - Bianca Schulze, The Children's Book Review "A fantastic book for children. The lessons this series teaches are invaluable. This particular book teaches kids that no one is perfect. It tells them teasing and bullying are wrong. I am so thrilled with this series of books. I love a book with a little lesson in it. Children learn so much faster that way. Captain No Beard will soon become a huge favorite read of the child in your life." - Have You Heard My Book Review, blog "I think this is a really cute book.... I think the way the author teaches kids it is not okay to judge is incredible. She keeps her writing very simplistic, so that even a younger child could read it for themselves.... The artistry for the book is also great. The characters and colors that are used I feel really appeal to children. ... I think this is a really cute book that everyone should have their children read. It could really help them understand how to deal with bully issues. The story shows how it starts, what happens and the outcome to make it all work out." - Allergy Kid Mom's Book Reviews, blog"These stories certainly inspire my children's imaginations. It's is a great collection of books for any child's library."- Lynda Coker, Between the Pages, blog"Told in a fun but very realistic tone, Carole P Roman shows how bullying hurts others and how important it is to try to see others in a positive light. I loved it and I know many children (and adults) will be uplifted by the message. Another winner by Carole P Roman and this one is the best so far!" - N.N. Light, Princess of the Light, blog"Carole P. Roman does it again with her children's book "The Crew Goes Coconuts!" I am not sure if I am more impressed with the illustrations or the actual story!...This story touches on bullying and in this day and age, we need our children to respond to this issue with love and compassion. Hopefully spreading this message will help stop this horrible thing happening to our children in our schools." - Reader Views Kids, Book by Book Publicity

Sweet pirate tale about a crew whose tempers are short because they have run out of water. The crew is upset because Matie the goat has finished their last juice box. Cayla and Hallie try to stick by her, but the others start picking on her and making fun of her. When Captain No Beard hears tge commotion, he decides to ask each crew member to name one good and one good bad thing about themselves. That gets them all thinking. Maybe it is more important to recognize that we are have strengths and weaknesses. In the end when the crew does reach land, Matie is able to use a special capability that goats possess to save the day for them all!

Colorful, fun and animated illustrations with easy text make the short tale appropriate and appealing for preschoolers and early primary children. This makes it a good choice for a bedtime story or teacher read aloud following by a classroom discussion on lessons learned.

A great book to teach children who to consider their own weaknesses before they judge another.

In this new book of her Captain No Beard series, Carole P. Roman introduces a new character aboard the imaginary flying ship, a goat with an unusual name. The goat is mistreated by half the crew which causes trouble upon the ship.

Captain No Beard intercedes and shows the crew that each of them have their own gifts, and that being hurtful to another is not the way a crew should act.

Bullying is a huge topic these days and is finally being noticed more. Possible solutions and action is being talked about through different media. I was pleased to see the author take on this subject with her books.

This subject is difficult because there are so many different levels of bullying but Carole P. Roman shows children that each person has things about them that are wonderful and some things that may not be so wonderful. However, each person has something that can be useful in society.

Captain No Beard and his crew are out on another adventure, but this time the heat is making them all very thirsty and very cranky. The crew’s crabby attitude started with Matie the goat. Matie has been accused of drinking more than her share of the juice boxes. As a result, Matie was teased by some of the crew. Unfortunately, Captain No Beard had a bulling incident on his ship. Can he bring his crew to an understanding of each member’s differences and bring them back together? You’ll have to read the story to see.

Author Carole P. Roman has a story that teaches young readers about teasing and bullying. Parents and caregivers will appreciate the underlying message and how this story can open up dialogue to show children that we are all different and they should embrace those differences. Cheerful illustrations and simple sentence structure make for an entertaining and engaging read.

Even though I have a teenager I still enjoy reading children books. I find them fun and they usually have a great story line to them. This book by Carole was no different.

Though the title suggest we are going to be going coconuts in reality it had little to do with them. In fact the book teaches us a lesson about bullying. when all of the animals gang up on Matie the goat it's up to Captain No Beard to teach his crew a lesson in acceptance and tolerance.

I really liked this book because we live in an age where bullying is a big thing in schools and our community. This book helps kids to understand that they need to accept people for their differences not make them outcast. I definitely recommend getting this book for your child or your classroom.

I received this book in exchange for an honest evaluation.

"The Crew Goes Coconuts" is another solid entry in Carol Roman's 'Captain No Beard' series. The text is clear and easy to read for beginning readers. The pirate lingo is fun for real-aloud. This entry deals with bullying and teaches children that if you give people a chance, every individual can offer valuable and unique contributions for the benefit of the entire group.
