Highland Passage Kindle Edition
What would you risk to find love?
Mackenzie Cooper has had it with romance. On her way home from another blind date arranged by her well-meaning sister, she is caught in a snowstorm. While maneuvering the twists and turns of the icy road, Mackenzie loses control of her car and crashes into the rocky hillside.
When a rugged Scotsman pulls her to safety, Mackenzie is sure she must be hallucinating. Through the storm’s fury, he takes her to shelter in one of the mysterious stone chambers scattered throughout Putnam County, New York. Snowbound, Mackenzie must wait out the storm with this strange, kilted man who claims to be a Highlander from eighteenth-century Scotland. By morning, she not only believes Ciarán MacRae’s story but has also lost her heart just in time for him to kiss her, promise his love—and then vanish.
Unable to forget him, Mackenzie returns again and again to the stone chamber, hoping to unlock the secret of Ciarán’s disappearance. But if she does, she will have to decide whether her fierce feelings for Ciarán are worth abandoning all that she knows to travel through time to find her gallant Scotsman.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2014I'm a sucker for well written time travel books and this was one I thoroughly enjoyed. It kept my interest from start to finish and I lost some sleep not being able to put it down! What the heck - I'm retired! I will have lots of sleeping time later! Finding a good novel and a new author to enjoy is worth the "sacrifice". This is well written and not overly complex. You'll enjoy it! I sure did!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2015Highland Passage by J. L. Jarvis -- Thoroughly delightful & charming time travel romance. Ciaran & Mac were such lovable characters! I did find myself wishing that the author had developed their characters more thoroughly. Still, they were believable as written. I would, also, have liked the author to have expanded some of the elements in the story in deeper detail, such as life in the castle in those days and the characters of Hamish & Fergus. Therefore, I gave this book only 4 stars. With more story development, I feel it would have been worthy of 5 stars. Yes, as some have pointed out, there were no sexually explicit descriptions of the consummation of their love making, but there was still enough sexually implied tension between Ciaran & Mac. This makes this book a nice, clean romance novel, not erotica. I was pleased to see this. I do believe that there was just enough angst about whether Ciaran & Mac would finally be able to be together in the end. I have also read, "Highland Soldiers 1: The Enemy," by J. L. Jarvis, which I also enjoyed. But, I loved Highland Passage more. Having read several time travel novels, this one is now my favorite. I hope J. L. Jarvis will continue to add to the Highland Passage line. We have so few clean romantic books that I hope to see more of this. I have already bought the next Highland Passage - Knight Errant. I am looking forward to starting it tomorrow. If you like time travel and want a good clean read, this is it!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2022This was an exciting read and I really enjoyed it. It was very different from what I normally read but quite captivating as the theory of time becomes the focus. Mac and Diagram meet as a result and forge a love that even centuries of time cannot destroy.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2018A very good book to read if u like time-travel scottish romances. It keeps you turning the pages with its characters endearments. The story mainly revolves around the 2 characters so there's not too much details on the characters, geography or historical events happening. So, if you like a lot of details this book will not satisfy you.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2014Just got thru reading Highland Passage; all I can say is OMG!...Loved it!......I could not read it quickly enough, now I must check out your other books..:~) I like time-travel but found lately they have been lacking so I stopped buying them, however I found your characters very likeable, story line interesting & of course a happy ending.....Thx & keep writing!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2015I enjoyed reading this book. The author's story of time travel and the way the love story between Mac and Ciaran began, was what fascinated me. The cover also looked good! There were parts of the book I actually laughed out loud and yet, there are parts of the book that are truly moving. I think anyone who reads this book will love this story and the characters. The characters were well written and it had a very interesting twist to the plot. I recommend this book especially if you're a fan of Scottish Highlanders like me!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2014The very first story I read by this author was "This Moment", a short story about Ciaran and Mac. I fell totally in love! I read that story over and over (and over!)..... when I found out that this wonderful short story had been expanded into a whole book, I was thrilled! As soon as the book was available, I bought it, and have already read it twice (getting ready to read it again - - need my Ciaran 'fix'!)
I love how the story starts with Mac and Ciaran meeting for the first time at the stone chamber, and the twists and turns and loops their relationship takes. I'm hoping that Ms. Jarvis writes more stories about Ciaran and Mac so that I can see how their story continues!

5.0 out of 5 stars I had a hard time putting it down.
I liked the twist of the way they time travelled in this book. The 20th century woman didn't have a lot of unrealistic baggage to shove in the face of the people from the 1700's. She adapted well and the focal point was on the love even though it was not her intention to stay back in time. She didn't let her love get in the way of loyalty to promises made to her family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, although I feel that the traditions and and background of the period could have been enlarged a bit more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scottish Romance
This story has adventure and romance. Mac meets a time traveller, Ceirein, after an accident and falls in love. Mac decides to go to 18th century to find him, frees him from prison, is involved in a war with the British and gets back to her own time. Thinking Ceirein was killed, Mac tries to forget him but he surprises her with a visit and asks her to marry him. I couldn't put this book down.
