The Strawberry Girl: A David Good P.I. short story (David Good private investigator) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

Meet, for the first time, David Good, Private Investigator. Plying his trade in 1980s South London, the PI with pliable morals, a taste for blondes and a full-on sense of humour, turns out to be a big softie as he takes up the challenge of sorting out yet another domestic mess.

Having discovered that one Alice Jones, a young woman with a well-developed taste for strawberries, has a varied and not entirely honest life, he quickly finds himself wrestling with emotions he’d prefer would go away. As it is, they leave him confused and struggling to work out what he should do with the woman.

Join Good on this little jaunt through South London and ask yourself what you would do next.

Ben is the author of two crime and mystery series. The David Good private investigator stories are set in 1980s London, featuring a PI in tune with his neck of the woods and in possession of some distinctly pliable morals. The Banbury Cross Murder Mystery stories are classic murder mysteries set in the rural market town of Banbury during the early 1960s, featuring the curmudgeonly Inspector Leslie Dykeman and the irascible Sergeant Stanley Shapes.

Ben's writing places an emphasis on strongly developed characters and invariably comes served with a side-order of humour.

Born in London, Ben now lives in rural Northamptonshire in the English Midlands, with his family and a heavily over-worked computer.

He writes just about every day and some of the resulting stories and other material is made available for free exclusively to readers who register here http://www.benwesterham.com/subscribe/.

Top review from the United States

I really like the David Good short story books. They're all standalone books and just the right length for me to read at night when I go to bed as I can finish then and can take on another book. I can't wait to read the full book.

Super introduction to the world of David Good PI. I enjoyed the informal writing style and imagery used. You get a real sense of the no-nonsense way of life of the 1980's. I have already bought the rest of the books and look forward to reading them all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Short Story Okay For A Quick Read Suggest You Try The Other Books In This Series They Are Good This Is Disappointing

This story is probably to short for a review. However, here goes.

Before, I read this I had just completed Good Investigations which is a full novel by this writer and featuring the main character in this David Good. I would recommend it and the other books that feature David Good. This is the disappointment in this series. Unlikely, I would have tried the other books If I had read this first.

Now back to this. I believe in the real world that if a private eye is hired to investigate infidelity. In most cases the client’s suspicions are confirmed. This is something like that.

Excellent short read. Really like the lead character David Good. Will definitely take a look at the novel due later in the year.
