Father Bredder is a good, traditional Catholic priest with a wide acquaintanceship of all sorts of characters living in his parish. The novels here take place in the late 50's through the early 60's. Despite having a natural flair for detection, Father Bredder is a highly compassionate, humble priest who is more concerned with saving a man's soul than solving a puzzling crime. He and his police sidekick just plug along until the mystery is solved.

I really like this series. The characters are great. The stories are really interesting. I like that Father Breeder isn't made out to be unbelievable. He makes mistakes too.

I have become a fan of Father Bredder mysteries. He not only solves mysteries, he cares about all the people involved. No sex or gratuitous violence or bad language

The blending of strong but humble religious convictions (as in Fr. Brown) and disciplined curiosity (as in Cadfael) play well in these three novels. Plots and detection are satisfyingly twisty.
