Mage Strike (The Enslaved Chronicles Book 2) Kindle Edition
The hard part should have been over. Former slave Miara and Crown Prince Aven have escaped with their freedom and their lives. From kidnapper and captive, they’ve grown into a powerful partnership. And they’ve returned to the mountain fortress of Estun, triumphant, to warn his people of the rising menace just across their border.
But escape was only the first step. War looms. Hundreds of mages still live in slavery. Neither the king nor the queen believes the people will support a foreign spy as crown princess, no matter how loyal Miara truly is. And enemy agents plot to keep Aven from the throne by any means necessary, be they mundane—or murderous.
On top of it all, the Dark Master has plans of his own: to enslave a vast mage army bound to his will alone. To obliterate all knowledge of the forbidden star magic, no matter the cost. And to get a little revenge too, while he’s at it.
Powerful new enemies, tenacious new allies, and earth-shaking magic join Aven and Miara in this second volume of the Enslaved Chronicles.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2017I was expecting a little more to the story this time around, and while things developed well, there really wasn't a ton happening. It was a good read though. I was happy to see Aven freeing more of the mage slaves, and was ecstatic when one of the slaves got away with an essential piece of the Dark Master's property. I was also happy to see when the traitor in their mist was outed by members of the assembly. Unfortunately that person got away, and I really hope they find that traitor and punish them accordingly. The war between Daes and his mage slaves and Akaria has now begun though, and I'm excited to see how everything develops in the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2017Loved the magic system and how it keeps progressing. Also, the relationships are believable and are a nice soft spot in all the tension. My only criticism would be for all the inner monologues. Sometimes it felt like an entire 3 or 4 pages were dedicated to wrestling with thoughts instead of progressing the narrative. All in all though a good follow up and can't wait to see what comes next!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2017Wow, this Author did not disappoint!
Book two was even better than book 1
The series continues as Miara is now a freed slave and had returned to the kingdom and kidnapped the royal crown Prince.
She and the crown Prince are in love and now have to prepare to prepare a kingdom for war against an enemy who uses a secret weapons, in slaves mages being trained for war.
We meet all new characters and love connections! This book has it all!!
I leaves thug with a smile and an urge to check and see if the next installment is available. 100% recommend :)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2018I have eagerly awaited this second book of the Enslaved Chronicles by R.K. Thorne. Mage Slave was very good and had some original ideas about magic that were fascinating. There are new characters introduced in this second book and they keep you guessing about who to trust and what is happening. The bad guy is still very bad and others find bravery they did not know they possessed.
One thing was bothersome in this book. When you are in the middle of serious action it is difficult to understand why someone would launch into a pages- long introspection of how they got to this point. That usually happens afterward when you have time to think. When someone attacks you with murderous intent you had better act. You do not have time to hit the pause button and reflect on your life. It is kill or be killed.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2019Excellent story. The plot was well thought out and executed the entire way through, unlike some stories I have read, and in particular the sequels to the first novel in a series. The ending was not rushed nor warped to tie up loose ends in a big knot. Lots of twists and turns and excitement to get your blood pumping and have you sitting on the edge of your seat feverishly turning pages as you devour the story to learn what happens next.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2019I like the story. I'm invested in the characters. I'm going to read the final book just to see the ending. Just be aware that the writing is amateurish. There are mistakes such a duplicate or missing words. Also, in this book, timing was confusing. In the same chapter, she flits from one set of characters to another. Usually this is done to show what is happening in different places within the same time frame. That's not what happened here. I was reading a chapter and a soldier mentions that Jaena missed Aven by an hour. I had to read a bit more to make sense of how that happened. I don't know. This book took a lot of me figuring it out as I read. Just didn't flow as well as it should.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2021I stayed up way past my bedtime because of this book. I love the main characters and most of the other characters too. There enough twists and turns to keep you engaged and a touch of romance for my heart. Definitely reading the next book ASAP!

2.0 out of 5 stars Voor jong publiek
Deel 2 is praktisch hetzelfde. Ik ben gestopt omdat het te saai werd.

This book is very well written, I am looking forward to the next one in the series. Travel times seem a bit short, but makes for a faster story line

4.0 out of 5 stars Ganz gut

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing sequel!
Mage strike has had me reading almost non stop for the past day!
I read the first book in the series, Mage Slave, only a few days ago, and whilst there were quite a few things that bugged me about the book (mainly some discrepancies in the story that appeared), I thought the plot was really good, certainly good enough to warrant buying the second book.
I'm sooooo glad that I did! All the small things that annoyed me in the first book are gone, and with so many interweaving plots going on in the story, I really had difficulty putting it down.
Even the characters seemed much more real to me in this book. For example, Aven, who seems rather too naive in book 1, becomes a lot more strong and confident in book 2. I was able to understand the characters and their motives a lot more and it really helped me to enjoy the book!
Whilst I'd have happily given 'Mage Slave' a solid 3.5-4/5 stars, I can't honestly give 'Mage Strike' anything but a five.
My only grumble is that I now have to wait so long for the next book!
