The Amulet of Catal is the first in a series of books targeted for younger readers. The idea to create these stories was driven by the desire to engage both parents and children. I especially wanted to encourage learning so in the back of the book you will find a list of words. These words you will find in the story, however, in the back you will find definitions you can referance and discuss. In this way this series will be ideal for homeschool families who want to be able to discuss with their children what they are learning.

About the Author

Sam is younger than you and older than your parents. He believes in God and in His promises. That each of us has a divine purpose with limitless potential. This belief drives him in his writing and while his books are the work of fiction and fantasy, he believes the underlying principles must be founded in truth.

Samuel T. Evans believes in the value of family-oriented books. Growing up some of his best memories came from listening, with his siblings, to one of their parents reading to them. A fun YA yarn, which could be flushed out into a wide audience book.
But let's be frank, this is NOT a book, or even a short story, it's barely a chapter. Less than a normal sampler.
I did try the sampler, and found a fast paced beginning, though very shory, it seemed OK & for 2$ for the full book I thought it worth a go. But the "book" took about 20 minutes to complete -including the 'sample - (for a slowish reader). A ripoff!
Also, it is riddled with typos and wrong words, like a voice dictation without proofing.
But, Before I buy more, fron Evans, I'll need the rest of book I bought....

Still a compelling voice, quick connection with characters and start of a plot.
But I want a book, with some kind of middle and end when when I buy a book!

This story has magic amulets and scary beasts, dragons and battle it gets your pulse racing . It ends too soon with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

This looks like a good start to a great adventure story but it just . . . ends. If this is supposed to be a series of short stories, there should be some wrapping up of things. As it is, it looks like a sneak peak to the first few chapters of a longer book that is being published serially like they used to do in newspapers.
