A young girl, a clueless mage, magical creatures, and a war about to begin.

At thirteen, Ari already knows that life is difficult. But things become even more difficult when she must leave her village and travel to the city of the king to find her only surviving relative.

Wes is a young soldier, but also a mage who understands very little of magic. In a kingdom where everybody distrusts mages, Wes knows that he must keep his power secret and never attract attention, even when the king sends him on a dangerous mission.

In a world plagued by undead, dragons and magical creatures from a forgotten era, Ari and Wes must complete a difficult and perilous journey. To survive, they will need all their talents, even the ones they don’t yet know they have.

GOSH, DO I EVER WANT TO READ THIS SERIES!! I cried that Ari had to leave her village and find her aunt. Ari just just ten years old, and she had to fend for herself with just the clothes on her back and no money when her mom died. I liked that Wes, a soldier took on Ari and her little friend, as they were headed the same way. Magic, dragons, and mythical creatures appear in this book, PLUS THE UNDEAD that the villages feared. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK!

I kind of liked this book, it was well written enough to keep my interest despite jumping from character to character, but I'm not anxious to get the sequels.

received this ARC of Searing Fire and absolutely loved the story. I was instantly entranced by the storyline and the characters. I especially loved each character that joined Ari in her journey to find her aunt, and save the kingdom. Each character was unique in their own way and made the story so much better with their unique blend. Ari is a strong young woman who grows within the book. This book had it all...action, adventure, magic, mystical creatures, a dragon, a hero and heroine. I can't wait to continue reading Ari's adventures with her friends by her side. This is a great book for those who love magic, fantasy and mystical creatures. This book is also about strength, determination, fearlessness, compassion, honor, nobility and respect. It's about choices and finding who you are, and what you want. LOVED IT!

I was given this book for free to read and review. Sometimes it takes the smallest group of rag tag rebels to win against a most impossible terrible evil witch controlling the undead and power hungry monarchs. This is the premise of this YA fantasy book. I really enjoyed this book very much each character was so unique and brimming with life that I was sucked into the pages and drifted away with them on this epic journey. If you like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings you will like this book.

As an ARC reader, I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

This was a great story! It is definitely a 5-star story, but the writing is more 3-star. I think this book could be better. I feel like the author could have taken more time to expound on some things. Overall, this was a great read! I feel like I really know the 4 main characters. My issue is that the entire story line is based on an old war that we never really learn much about. It is this huge point but I feel like I don't know much about it. It's difficult to make connections between the past and the present.

Half way through the book we are introduced to another war, which I believe is the author's way of foreshadowing a second book, but it seems very extraneous in this story.

The ending of the story was also very rushed. The approach of the army, the fight, the death of the 2 main villians, were all anti-climatic. It's like, "this big powerful warrior got burned up", "this super mage was stabbed and shattered", "all the bad guys caught on fire and died", and they all lived happily ever after.

I think this book could be reworked and more connections made, bringing in more of the history and become a truly amazing story!
