Ty Sloan was a champion bull rider until he got in a fight defending a woman and was sent to jail for three years. He’s finally getting paroled and is given a job on a ranch as foreman. The trouble is Maybelle is a barrel racer who was just hired as foreman by her uncle. Ty and Maybelle clash but they are instantly attracted to each other. Ty tries to fight it but in the end he can’t stay away. Maybelle is facing danger from a former boyfriend. When Ty comes to her rescue he lands in jail again. Excellent story.

For me this started off a little dark and I almost didn't finish this one. My little voice told me to read another chapter or two before I gave up on this book. It is well written and has great characters. This isn't a quick easy read but I encourage you to give this one a chance. I think you will enjoy it.

He was a champion bull rider until a questionable incident changed his life forever. She is an up and coming champion barrel racer, determined to make it in the big time with a much bigger purse. But an incident in her past has her going to her uncle’s ranch and asking for the position of foreman to which her uncle immediately agrees. She needs to lay low and stay close to family. They both find themselves working on the ranch and must share the job as foreman of the ranch. Eventually, they discover that they really work well together and are successfully running the ranch. Complications ensue when Ty’s and Maybelle’s pasts are brought to the forefront.

After serving his sentence he is offered the job as foreman at Falcon Ridge Ranch not realizing that it had been offered to another and not only would he be sharing the pay but living spaces as well.

Maybelle has recently relocated to her uncle’s ranch where not only can she prove her worth as a foreman but complete as a barrel racer as well. After the way her last relationship ended the last thing she needs is the distraction of a sexy cowboy however they are about to find out they make perfect partners both personally and professionally.

The chemistry between them is intense however Maybelle’s independence conflicts with Ty’s need to protect her especially when the secrets she has been keeping places her in danger. I enjoyed the performance of the narrator as he brought the story to life.

I gave Ride Hard a 4 because it is a good well written book. It describes ranch life and the people who work the ranch-- their dreams , their life, their experences. The author also has a more realistic view of peole who have been in jail-- sometimes beng at the wrong place at the right time.
