“A uniquely absorbing read. It envelops you in a truly exotic and alien environment, and gives you a heroine to root for . . . It offers mystery, action, a few good jolts, and a bit of the old redemption sans mawkishness. All of the ingredients for a story sure to knock ’em dead.” —

A terrific SF mystery novella, and great to see it finally get a digital release. Castro's heroine Andrea Cort is one of the best female characters I've seen written by a male author. There are, however, quite a few proofreading errors in this edition, with the most egregious being multiple examples of the possessive "Cort's" with a strange symbol instead of an apostrophe.

This is a damn near perfect sf detective story.

An intelligent, thoughtful and imaginative story. Set in a galaxy far far away about 100 years in the future it details the problems of applying laws to alien cultures and how to resolve them.
