Appalachian Trail: Pictures & Poems Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 19 ratings

A life changes on the trail, it is different than any experience I have known and forever thankful to the many friends I made along the way, many remain now lifelong connections over social media space and time, some have visited to hike, talk and tell stories of travels far and wide. The Appalachian Trail has a heart if you listen and a healing power if your spirit needs mending. This book captures the highlights of beauty and a few of my odd thoughts on my journey from Maine to Georgia.

My passion is hiking and enjoying being outside. I have hiked the Appalachian Trail and climbed many mountains in the USA along with hiking and climbing Monta Rosa in the Switzerland Alps. My favorite book I have completed so far is Where is My Dog Bone? Molly Jo Super Hiker was a real dog and best friend, she had hiked all of the Appalachian Trail in Massachusetts. Kids love this book and the idea came from my very fun 4 year old grandson who loves dogs and hiking, he enjoys find it books and this one, the kids help Molly Jo find her dog bone, on our hikes in the Beautiful Berkshires. If you enjoy mountain photography and free form poetry, I have 2 books of pictures and poems on Amazon and have received positive reviews on both. There is also a fun Peek a Boo Bear Book I did based on a real cub bear that was doing peek a boo to me and another hiker in Virginia. Wish you well on your own journey. I am a Veteran and find hiking the very best form of therapy.

This is an amazing book, where the words and awesome pictures are woven together into a magical tapestry of wonder and beauty. It will carry you along the AT on lyrical wings of incredible depth and beauty.

People attempt hikes for many varied reasons and proceed with changing expectations. The author clearly has deep reasons for enduring the hardships and seeking what the trail time has to offer. The combination of photos and poems was an appropriate medium for this person to convey what they may carry internally, what they shed, and what they found. Apparently the Appalachian Trail was a provider for this hiker in a way many of us would hope our extended hike could be for us. An endearing glimpse at the AT, trail life, and a soul.

A deeply satisfying read. Having spent six months hiking and traveling the length of the AT this collection of pictures and poems provides a portal to the moments and thoughts I experienced. The words and images resonate so clearly...for a moment it’s like I’m there again.
