Self confidence. Just looking at someone, many think because they don't fit the expected mold they're lacking, they're less. Too often we're our worst judge. Mira, a plus size 16, lacked self confidence both to her own judging and her family's. Only Edward loved the entire package. He loved her curves and her beauty from within. To ensure that she became his wife, he went about it quite strangely. Edward too lacked self confidence and worth due to a horrific incident in his youth. Walls, lack of emotion, are just a couple of things he incorporated only to have Mira rescue him with her love and kindness. A real moving story that has hot scenes, passion, family, friendship, and love. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a beginning of a very happy ever after. Enjoy ����

I've read hundreds of romance books in the past few years and this one was extremely well written and had a new plot. I loved the complexity of Edward's former time as a priest. Also, the FML was a strong woman. l Steele was amazing in portraying her as independent and strong. I've seen too many stories where a woman in her position comes across as meek and weak. Amazing story!

What a great story of redemption, acceptance and full bodied love for two people who have dealt with so much. Edward has had all of us in the L Steele universe hurting with him. We have seen Mira trying to hold it together for quite a while also. Seeing them find their acceptance and seeing how 'deep' Edward has become makes you love him even more. Let's just say I wanna be a yacht club girl.

This is Edward and Mirabelle's story. I have read all of L. Steele's books. I loved them all, but this one is something else. The emotional turmoil and rebirth the MMC went through made me want to reach out and give him the biggest hug! It's so highly charged emotionally, I would go as far to say that if this was the only book L.Steele wrote - still would've enough as a legacy and contribution to the genre. This is one of those books you cannot forget. Ever.

The spunkiness and sassiness in Mira wonderful and I loved that she was always pushing Edward as well as sassing him.Edward…where to begin…🥵🥵 that man…is swoon worthy in all the wrong (right) ways. Stalking, forced marriage, BDSM….daaaammmn. He had me from the first encounter when he asked how Mira was at following directions. And then again everytime he called Mira a good girl. I need more!

    This is the first book that I’ve read by L. Steele. It will not be my last. I enjoyed Edward and Mina’s love story. There were some unexpected twists in there. This story had angst, family drama, laughter, great friends and lots of spice. You will not be disappointed with this book.

    I originally dnf’d the book within the first 3 chapters because there was so much dialogue that could’ve been shortened or kept out all together and wouldn’t have made a difference.

    I picked it back up a couple of days later and it got better. I had just a few issues.

    Got on my nerves at times pressing him to disclose the “incident” all the time when he was clearly traumatized. She would say she would give him time and the next paragraph she was pressing him to divulge.

    All of her friends knew of the “incident” and no one really tried to warn her? I get why they say that it was his business to tell but maybe more heyyyy you need to think about this more, or he’ll pressing him to tell her before they got married.

    There was no real climatic moment in the book. Even revealing the “incident” was anti climatic.

    The ending was blah. I honestly thought it was going to keep going but it just stopped.

    I will say the spicy scenes were definitely spicy and I loved Ed and Belle together.

    Just the book itself lacked some things.

Steele has done it again, adding another great read to her Primrose Hill collection (which is a compilation of the Big Bad Billionaire series, The Sovranos series and the Morally Grey Billionaires series.) It’s always a pleasure to catch the occasional glimpse of those characters in each of her books, including the infamous champagne guzzlin’ Great Dane Tiny!

    Tropes for this read are:

    Each new book in this series contains glimpses of past characters – and their current relationships with each other – which, to me, gives this a “found family” trope that I’m adding to my list of tropes!

    I don’t leave reviews that have spoilers in them, whenever possible you should always approach a read by going in blind. It’s truly the best way to experience it for the first time.

    Man. I’ve waited for this story for three years. Something about Edward’s tortured soul spoke to me from the first time I was introduced to him in The Billionaire’s Fake Wife. Of all the books I’ve read, and I read 200-300 a year, Edward has lived rent-free in my head since 2020. After reading his own story, he’s firmly cemented as a favorite bbf who will surely live rent-free for years to come.

    Edward: Tortured. Fallen. Lost. He believes he lost his only chance at love when he left Ava to find himself after leaving the church, Ava then falling for his best friend Baron whom he sent to watch over her. Edward’s demons make him believe he’s not worthy of love or happiness of any kind. He believes he’s beyond redemption, that he’ll never love or allow himself to be happy because he’s tainted and doesn’t want that to be passed on to others. He’s morally grey based on his fears that something like “the incident” could ever happen to Mira.

    Mira: She’s the heroine I didn’t know I needed. From her nervous energy to her word vomit; from her incredibly creative curse-phrases to her own doubts, fears, weaknesses; from her cheerfulness, love, and strength to her empathetic, healing nature. She’s the perfect angel to Edward’s demons.

    Individually one is bitter, lost, lonely, broken; the other is filled with spirit, forgiveness, understanding, love. Together though? Together they are pure perfection!

    This story also had the introduction of new characters and family that hints to a whole new direction of stories to come. If you’re new to L. Steele, her books are considered standalone – but you’ll see characters from previous books and to get the absolute best experience you should really read them all if you can!

    I would 10/10 recommend!!!

    The Pretend Christmas Bride cover is stunning to view and is just the beginning of this beautiful Christmas read. Edward ‘ Priest’ Chase and Mirabelle (Mira) Young were written in the cards. I’m so happy how the story turned out. I adore Mira and her personality is perfect for Edward. I loved Edward since way back when I first met him in the beginning of The Big Bad Billionaires series and I am thrilled he is getting his hea with Mira. Edward’s character is compelling and very complex. This book digs deep into his character and shows him remodeling himself. Oh, and the angst & spicy is perfect. Mira is sweet yet, not a pushover and I love how she stands up for herself and what she wants. The writing style is addictive and brings the characters together passionately. I have read every single book by L. Steele and this one is one of my favourites. Although, I love every single book by this author this one will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️. I highly recommend reading this Christmas book, it’s the perfect fireside story.
    I cannot wait for The Davenports series to come out next year.

I was content with the book, but when I realized it didn't has the epilogue inside and that you have to search it online, on the author newsletter, the disappointment took me completely. That is the worst idea I have ever seen. I wanted to read more of the series, but I never won't, seeing how this resulted. So no, a big no. It's a shame that because I like book on paper, I spent money in this book, to at the ND being disappointed

That is the worst idea I have ever seen. I wanted to read more of the series, but I never won't, seeing how this resulted. So no, a big no. It's a shame that because I like book on paper, I spent money in this book, to at the ND being disappointed

    After reading this I don't know if I'm angry or happy with Edward all I know is my heart hurts for him this book was perfect from start to finish and tiny if the most cunning match maker I've ever met I fell in love with him instantly who doesn't love a champagne guzzing great Dane lol l steel you FMC are beautiful fierce and sassy thank for writing about full figured women and men who appreciate them. I'm glad belle and Edward found their happy ending.
