A great way to end the series. Two soldiers who thought they would never leave the battlefield and have a life filled with love. It’s difficult to imagine a Native American girl who is able to speak and sign to dogs and later to wolves. There are all kinds of animal whisperers. It’s not something you learn. You are born with the gift. As this story unfolds, it embraces the sacrifices our military faces when they are separated from their families. They have to be 100% in the fight, especially in the Middle East. Treacherous conditions and never knowing who the enemy really is. It’s physically taxing and emotionally exhausting. Then, when they finally get leave, they are in a quandary because as much as they want to fit in at home, they don’t. This is a journey into their world. A discovery of what it means in the day to day lives of those in combat. It is also a picture of life as an Indian. Woven into a tapestry of honor, respect and never backing down until the last man is safe and the enemy obliterated. Get your coffee and enjoy.

Major Oakley Rising Wolf is a former Ranger and now in charge of training K9 units . Their attraction is instant and they spend several weeks getting to know each other. As they spend time together Riggs asks Oakley if shed go look at a couple pups a man swears are wolves .
As Oakley with her special skills works with the pups that are wolves an enemy from her past arrives seeking revenge . Oakley with Gunner will fight till the end to protect her wolves . This is an amazing story. Full of suspense and romance and so much more . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Not quite sure what I was expecting from this read, but was truly fascinated by what I found. In a way, the title is a bit misleading. In reality, this is Oakley's quest for redemption and finding her true self. The fact that Gunner finds his own way along with a true life mate just makes for icing on the cake. I know I will be reading more once to absorb the facts about the Grey Wolf and the history of packs in Yellowstone. Well written and intriguing start to finish.

Although this book is entitled Gunner's War, it seemed to me that it was more about Oakley and her wolves. I liked Oakley because she was strong, competent, and independent. I liked her relationship with Charli. I also liked the way Gunner accepted her for who she was and respected her talents.

That is not to say that Gunner didn't play a significant role. Gunner and Oakley had an intense chemistry and Gunner was drawn into the relationship with the wolves as well.

The most fascinating part was the supernatural, spiritual, paranormal (take your pick) aspect of the relationship between Oakley and the wolves. The scene in the hangar was unexpectedly moving.

When the threat came to Oakley's doorstep, Gunner and friends were right there ready to aid her in defense and support. I had to wonder if there was something as spiritual about Gunner as there was about Oakley. I was never really sure, but the wolves seemed to respond to him in almost the same way.

An interesting story about love, loyalty, and spirituality, as well as preserving and protecting the environment and animals in their natural state.

So many aspects of this story drew me in and touched an interest in me. A very well developed storyline kept me engaged throughout the book and who wouldn’t love, Oakley, Gunner, and her wolf friends? I actually found myself slowing down my reading piece because I didn’t want the story to end! Editing could use a little more attention, because there were a lot of incorrect words like floor, instead of food, and others. Also names like Charlie, instead of Charli, were often noted. All in all, a most enjoyable read, and I will enjoy revisiting it in the future. The Cotton Creek saga has been an enjoyable journey to read through.

Wow, this is by far the most exciting book I've ever read. Both former military and both alphas. She trained the war dogs and assisted them home when they died in battle, just like any soldier would. There's one part of the story brought tears to my eyes, the honor the war dog received. They work together to protect the Gray Wolves. Plus you meet some of the other characters from other books. Excellent read. HEA.

This is another excellent steamy romance by an excellent romance author! Ciana is an outstanding author in my favorite genre! I love these happily ever after stories that remind me of the marriage that I am committed to keep even when he pushes the boundaries set by my God. Of course God has to be at the center or it will never work! I received a gifted copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. I honestly love this story and this series!
