Adam & Evie's Matchmaking Tour: A Spicy Rom-Com with a Steamy Dynamic, Dive into this Heartwarming Adventure Kindle Edition

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 225 ratings

A rollicking, unforgettable romance about two strangers finding love despite their best efforts as they embark on a sweeping matchmaking tour through Việt Nam, perfect for readers of Carley Fortune and Abby Jimenez.

What’s a few weeks to a lifetime of promise?

Evie Lang’s life is in shambles. On the heels of losing her beloved aunt, she's unceremoniously fired from her poetry professorship by her secret boyfriend. Lacking income and inspiration, she's stuck in Ohio with no idea how to move forward—until hope arrives in a surprising letter.

Auntie Hảo left Evie the deed to her San Francisco row house, a place full of Evie’s happiest memories. The catch? To inherit, she must go on a pre-arranged matchmaking tour in Việt Nam. The last thing Evie wants is to spend time with a group of strangers looking for love. But she can't resist the chance to finally visit her family’s native home.

A world away, Adam Quyền has a chip on his shoulder. He’s working around the clock as CMO for his sister’s elite matchmaking business, a job complicated by her insistence that he knows nothing about love. He’s desperate to prove himself, so when she challenges him to join the inaugural tour, he reluctantly agrees.

Adam thinks Evie is chaotic and unpredictable. Evie thinks Adam is grumpy and uptight. But from the bustling streets of Hồ Chí Minh City to the soaring waterfalls in Đà Lạt, they keep getting thrown together, their animosity charged with attraction…and they discover that true love may be out there, if they are willing to take a leap.

Two stubborn hearts, one whirlwind adventure, Adam & Evie’s Matchmaking Tour is a story of how loving (and living) bravely can lead you to the most unexpected places—and the most imperfectly perfect loves.

It is a great read. I would recommend this book. It’s a great story with an even better underlying message.

The book came in perfect condition and I can’t wait to finish reading it.

This was right up my alley and I was so excited from the start, getting into the lore of the FMC's aunt's will and their close and unique relationship. And switching to the MMC and his dynamic and banter with his sister, pressure of the company's need for success, etc. But then this book really stalled for me. There was quite a bit of repetition. I even switched to the audio at 2x speed to see if we could get to the romance. The characters' motivations were just repeated too many times, I wanted to skip the inner monologue about it as it was very clear what was going on and I just wanted the tour to start.

So overall I felt like a bit of underbaked romance even though the bones of this book are solid as well as the setting. Thank you to Avon for the eARC.

Adam and Evie are SO fun and while Ruby has her moments, she’s a great side character. The setting centered around a luxurious trip through Vietnam and is wonderful escapism from dreary Ohio. Sunny beaches, expensive restaurants, and private experiences make up a lot of the book but Adam and Evie are truly the epitome of ‘loving bravely’. Loved their ending!

(And their meet cute — the rooster really set the tone 😂)

The characters were so well developed and the description of the tour itself was great. I could often picture myself traveling. Very cute story

Thank you to the publisher for my gifted copy of Adam & Evie's Matchmaking Tour. All opinions are my own. I can't believe it took me so long to get to this one, but I did a mix of listening via my library audiobook copy and reading my ebook.
This is such a fun book! The FMC unexpectedly loses her Aunt and then her job and her (secret) boyfriend, who happened to be her boss, aka the one who fired her. Evie is convinced to join a matchmaking tour in Vietnam, and in doing so she will earn the deed to her late Aunt's San Francisco house. Even though Evie isn't really looking for love, she figures it's a good "break" and the house will be worth the trip.
On the other hand, Adam is the CMO of the tour group company, a start-up that he runs with his sister. This matchmaking trip is a new venture, and his sister insists that Adam join so he can experience its impact. She thinks he is both single and surly, due to a proposal gone wrong from which he hasn't fully recovered. Adam and Evie start off on a rough note, making the story feel like an enemies-to-lovers trope.
I have always wanted to visit Vietnam, and reading this book made it rocket up even higher on my travel bucket list. The sights and food were so well described. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this story was fun and flirty (some of the scenes were quite steamy!), and I felt very strongly that the couple should end up together. Even the third act break-up made sense and I wasn't (too) mad at it.
A fellow bookstagrammer alerted me that this is written by the same author as last year's literary fiction novel Banyan Moon, a Read with Jenna pick that I absolutely loved. I think it's so interesting when authors can write very different genres - especially when they are as well done as these two books! I recommend this one, either in print or audio forms.

    e-ARC from NetGalley.

I enjoyed this story and the ways in which it turned some of the typical romance tropes on their heads. We follow Evie, a struggling poet who was recently fired & dumped on the same day, as she fulfills her aunt's last dying wish: to take an-all-expenses paid matchmaking tour across Vietnam. When she gets there, she finds herself drawn not to other members of the tour but to the tour company's grumpy CMO.

This story read as a love letter to Vietnam. It made me want to visit the country, to hike the trails, to sample the food, to see the sights. I didn't understand in the slightest why Evie wanted to return to the US afterward. I would have stayed forever.

I think the reason I couldn't give this book a higher rating was because it's a dual POV romance. Adam's hot and cold demeanor was made irritating by knowing his thought process. If I'd had no idea what was going through his head, I would have felt Evie's angst and craved the pair's togetherness. But knowing what he was thinking? Just made his reasons and rationalizations seem weak.

I also don't like the "rich family chases off poor girlfriend by threatening to ruin their own son's future if she doesn't leave" trope.

I will definitely keep track of the author's future work because I'm interested to see what she writes next.
