Laina Turner writes clean, cozy mysteries that always have a bit of humor. When she’s not writing she’s a college professor teaching business and English.

Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination. It was during that childhood that she devoured anything Scooby Doo and Trixie Belden, and a love of the cozy mystery was born.

In her spare time, she’s also the personal assistant to her daughter, who’s involved in many sporting activities, while she tries to convince her husband that no, 3 dogs and 1 cat is not ‘too much.’

She is proud of her varied experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.

    This story had a little bit of everything. Humor, murder, friendship and animals. Tillie is settling in and getting more comfortable with the town and her store. When Hillary stumbles across a dead body, the friends rally around her providing support. The dead body is Walden Stout who was a lawyer. In his pocket was a piece of paper with Tillie’s name on it. Tillie, having no clue why, sticks her nose into investigating it even though the sheriff told her stay out. Since business is booming, she hires help and now has more time to search for clues. After finding a note in her mailbox, Tillie calls the sheriff. Tillie is surprise to see the sheriff warming up to her. Could this be the beginning of a relationship between the two? And, of course, Daisy and Bean are so cute! What fantastic sidekicks. If you haven’t read the first book, I highly recommend!

    With her pets, Daisy, a St. Bernard and Beans a miniature pig, Tilly is the owner of the pet bakery, Paw, Paws Pet Bakery in the town of Sweet Haven. Her friend, Hillary, owns the The Sweet Haven Coffee Beanery next door. But Hillary is in trouble when she finds the dead body of Walden Stout, a local attorney, dead in back of her store. The odd thing is he had a note with Tilly's number on it in his pocket. Well, since Tilly's shop is successful, she can hire Mizzy to help out in the store and give Tilly free time to look into the murder. The sheriff of course tells her to stay out of it, but that's not Tilly. Who wanted Walden Stout dead? When Tilly finds a note in her mailbox, she tells the sheriff who seems to have warmed up to her a bit. Stout was defending a man accused of embezzlement. Could be the opposing Attorney? What did Stout want to tell Tilly? With so many twists and turns we are taken on a roller coaster rider to the surprise ending. I can't wait to see what comes next for Tilly and her pets and friends! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

    A quick and entertaining book with great characters and lots of surprises. This story was enjoyable and I was able to finish it in one sitting. I was guessing about who was going to be the guilty party until the surprise ending. I recommend reading this book!
