Ginny Aiken was born in Cuba, raised in Venezuela, and then she married her college boyfriend. Forty years later, they have raised four sons who've brought four lovely ladies into the family. Three grandsons also have been added. When Ginny's not writing, she's busy ministering to women at her church and on the mission field. At her desk, however, it's just her, her Cairn Terrier co-author, and a varied assortment of strong-willed characters.

I find myself reading books quickly and hunting for something new weekly. I stumbled onto Ginny Aiken. I cannot remember which book I read first but I've loved them all and the first book prompted me to hunt down and find all of her books and read them all. I like that she includes religion in her books, but doesn't cram it down your throat. This makes it a great read for any type of reader, no matter your beliefs.

In this particular book I loved the mix of thriller and love story and how it continues with the characters from the first book but tells the story of two new characters. I like that it takes you on the journey of a man that lost faith and found it again I don't want to give away too much of the story so I'll leave it at that.

Pick up the book and enjoy it and then pick up the next one!

The Mob
Book 2

The Mystery:
FBI special agent, David Latham, witnesses Lauren DiStefano and her young nephew almost get ran over on purpose. The person she believes is behind the wheel: her dead brother! Now David has been assigned to protect Lauren, believing her dead brother was mixed up with the mob and had questionable investments. David not only looks after her, but soon becomes her protector and helps her out of several close calls. Her five year old nephew, now her responsibility, soon falls hard for David as well. But there are lot of strange goings on and they need to find out exactly who's trying to kill Lauren and what "the bird" is.

As far as the mystery goes, I was disappointed at the ending. We learned the the truth about who and how, but we never did understand why. I can't go into too much detail or I'd give it away, but I think the author left a lot of questions like why he turned ugly, why did he try to hurt these people? I just didn't feel there was closure to this story.

The romance:
Well...I've now read four LI Suspense, and I've been disappointed in the romance pretty much every time (one of them was pretty good). I'm wondering if romance takes a back seat in all the books. We really didn't see much, except at the end when they declared their love (I'm not giving anything away - that happens in EVERY LI book!).

In conclusion, the suspense kept me wanting to read the book. The dialogue was pretty good. It kept me interested up to the end. But I felt let down that the author didn't help me understand why two men with families would do such horrible things...

I kept waiting for explanations as to why certain things occurred in the book, but it never happened. I came away with the feeling of "yes, they caught the bad guy but I still don't know why he did some of the things he did, like trying to run down his sister with his car." Maybe I just missed it but I kinda feel like I wasted my time reading it. I really like Ms. Aiken's Love Inspired books but haven't cared much for any of her Love Inspired Suspense ones.

Having read this immediately following "Mistaken for the Mob," I have to say I liked this one better. I loved the quirky Grandma and her friends, and I especially liked the FBI agent, David. I did not find it boring, as someone else mentioned in the reviews. In fact, I'm looking forward to reading the last one in this series.
